    Default Deconstructing Green Steel

Since we can break down weapons, accessories, etc, down into essences, it makes since to be able to do the same thing to green steel. You would receive back all of your materials, small, medium and large, but not the shards of power or energy cells.

In addition it would require a reasonable amount of money, thirty thousand plat for tier I, sixty for tier II, and one hundred twenty for tier III, to deconstruct a green steel item, due to the danger of doing so.

Also, to further make it difficult, players would be required to trade with their plat a "Shavarath Rune of Dismantling" which would be available in the DDO store for 100-300 points, or a rare drop from Devil's of Shavarath quests.

    Thoughts?

A slightly new twist on a very old suggestion. I actually was wondering when this would come up again since its been a few weeks.

I don't think he was being sarcastic.

I think what he said was more along the lines of:

"Hey, it's the bi-weekly 'they should make Greensteel deconstructable' thread. And it's still a superb idea. I'll post in this one too to show my support since this is a much needed feature."

    From the wiki's "In-Devlopment" section:

    ◦Green Steel Deconstruction
http://www.tentonhammer.com/node/67256 ⇪ Kate Paiz, Ten Ton Hammer live chat (2009 April) - "It’s certainly something that is important to us, it makes sense, and we understand why players want it. ...we just haven’t quite gotten a clear and decisive answer as to when."

Yes, every player and their dog wants it to happen. MANY threads have discussed it.

Note the date of the comments above. Clearly, it's a front burner issue for the Devs..........................................

Fact 1: They know we want it.
Fact 2: They ain't doin anything about it at the moment.

Conclusion: What else can be said?

I figured sarcasm was more entertaining than signing a petition.

Personally, I am against greensteel deconstruction. I have a feeling that if deconstruction were implemented in the past then the game would have died. Grinding shroud for ingredients kept people playing the game for a long time. I think it saved DDO.

I generally have a sarcastic remark that the devs don't like to put in here, I will skip it this time. But this is a common thread that pops up sometimes on a weekly basis, and most times 100 people chime in with /signed, yes, or some bad crafting story.

If they have not given it to us by now, I doubt they ever will.

Any version of deconstruction would be better than what there is now i think.

    50% loss of ingredients maybe.

Being able to reapply any tier without throwing away tlhe item.

For example (and I admit this is the least annoying of examples)

I misbuilt my triple positive longsword not fully understanding how DT armor would fit and very naively thinking AC would ever matter.

Just remaking the 2nd and 3rd shard would be much better.

Agreed. And I'd sign off on 50% loss.

OR... allow your Cannith Crafting levels aid your chance of a successful Greensteel item deconstruct. If you're 150/150/150, you've got a 100% chance of decontruct, with a chance to yield 75% of the materials. 100/100/100, a 75% chance of deconstruct, with a chance to yield 50% of the materials. Etc, etc.
