    Default Simple questions about DPS/Tanking

I was planning on rolling up an intimitank for U11 due to the changes to fang. However I am loving my monk, 12/7/1 mnk/ftr/rng, too much right now. Instead I would like to convert this same feel of a build, monk/fighter, into a tankier version with another TR, it will be his third life with two monk PLs. I was looking into the God Hand build, but wasn't sure if another race has since usurped WF as the go to monk race.

Currently I am a Horc, and I love it too death. Horc in a top hat is worth so much to me that I'm not sure I could trade it out.

    Question time:

    1) Is there a solid build which rivals the God Hand?

    2) Is Horc a viable race for hate tanking?

    3) Is there anything better than a top hat?

The answer to 3 is no.

    Thank you much,

Masa - now with 2 points of infractions!

The metaru is a wf dark monk that's key aim is hate tanking, and it works. However it loses out on dcs, as it completely dumps wis altogether. Tbh, I think horc would be a better race than wf, as it offers brute fighting too, as well as offering a better stat spread. True the immunities and the arcane healing is nice, but I still think a horc would do a better job.

    And STR. Don't forget STR.

BYOH. Know it, abide by it, or don't mess with those who do.

Just do a 12/8 as a horc or helf. High dc's, high hitpoints. Horc gets more threat, helf gets more amp. Warforged, with tactics, hitpoints, and threat, is still potent, but it wouldn't be my personal choice since I like having 3.4 amp on top of my hp.

I think that 12 monk is a better split now that it adds a crit multiplier bonues.

Don't know how I feel about pure monk, but maybe I will try it out. What do I have to lose?

Haha yes, I know I lose haste boosts. The big one for me is losing out on HP.

Why Helf? I'd think Human would be the way to go for an amp tank. Helves can only get more amp than humans if they take the monk dilly, but that won't stack wtih the monk amp. Humans can get tier3 racial amp, on top of the extra skills and free feat (if nothing else, one more toughness).

That's why my monk tank is a Warfrog

As a healer, I dislike WF. The healing amp looks to solve all .5 healing problems, but it's still less effective to heal a WF than a fleshy. I would rather heal a Horc with 20 less HP than a WF with sub par healing amp.

Before I get flamed, it isn't possible for two tanks, one flesh one robot, to have the same healing amp if they both have the same gear.

Identical, no, but monks get extra healing amp that stacks with healer's friend, making a warfrog monk as easy to heal as, say, a dwarf fighter.

OTOH, in most quests you will likely have some help healing from the arcanes, which has to at least help balance the scales.
