Looking for a DPS guide

I have recently been asked by my fellow guildies about DPS and how it works, the best way to build for it etc... So over the past week or so I have been scowering the forums, DDO wiki and Google and I have not been able to find anything that talks strictly about DPS doe's and dont's. I have found plenty of builds that surround it lots of questions about it and tons of answers, but nothing in a simple guide or outline.

I was hoping that maybe some of you long term folks know where I can find a link that discusses DPS in detail, not so much about builds, but why a character should focus on DPS, or balancing DPS and AC.

I hope I am making sense, if not I can try and elaborate some more. Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm actually writing one right now. Stay tuned! Could be a few weeks cause its a doosy of a guide, just commenting on the role attack rolls play in combat took me a few hours.
