Default What can I do to improve computer performance?

    I have a Dell latitude d620
    T7400 core 2 CPU. 2.17ghz
Nvidia quadro 110m vido card with 64mb dedicated video ram and another 495 shared ram
    1.5 total system ram

    Running win 7 64 bit

Seems like this should be enough to play ddo when I travel but the game is very difficult to play the lag is really bad. I know it is not the network as he desktop plays just fine

    Hi Bolo_Grubb,

The Dell Latitude you have is a 5 year old business laptop with graphics not suited to gaming and support terminated at Vista rather than Windows 7.

You can ensure your Nvidia card is using the driver from Start>Control Panel>Windows update and the intel graphics accelerator driver from 2009.

Seems like this should be enough to play ddo when I travel
Shared hotel connections are normally pretty poor wirelessly/using a LAN cable but it's more than likely the inadeqate graphics - especially if your resolution is too high.

Did you let DDO determine the graphics settings for you?

ya I know it is an old laptop, just trying to maximize its performance for DDO. I think I did let DDO decide the graphics settings.

    Bolo,

1.5 gig of total RAM is simply not enough for Win 7 + DDO. Win 7 alone runs somewhere close to 1 gig of RAM, leaving you only .5 gig, and I think DDO probably requires a minimum of 1 gig of RAM. Oh, and that shared RAM for the video comes from the 1.5 gig as well. Windows will "hot swap" to the hard disk using "virtual" RAM. This results in poor performance (unless you happend to have a solid state drive, which I'm doubting). Best advice is: add more RAM and manually set DDO to the lowest possible settings...but you may have issues doing puzzles.
