I suspect the issue is a) you are violating game rules by posting such lfms, b) asking about "most famous people" is kinda asking for trouble, c) people don't want to go look for an lfm and have to scroll through a bunch of joke lfms to do it (and especially if they aren't particularly funny ones - "I like eggs"? C'mon, you can do better), or d) some combo of the above.

The stuff you're describing belongs in the chat boxes, not the lfm spots. It's one thing when an occasional burst of crazy hits the lfms, it's quite another when people are using the lfms as their own personal playground.

This. Sorry to pee on your parade, but it can be a real pain when LFM's are abused. Having said that, I'd rather read yours, laugh and move on, than all the "Need altar of x" or "trading this/that" posts on my server that I report.

What Turbine really needs to implement are little X's in the corner of each LFM, so that people who don't want to see a particular LFM can close it.

Clicking an X would be simpler than sending an angry message, anyway :P

The Grouping tab is for grouping. When you "spam" that LFM list with garbage you are interfering with other people's enjoyment of the game. Posting anything other than grouping in that tab has repeatedly been mentioned by Turbine as an actionable violation of the TOS. You are lucky you weren't reported.

Wow. I see LFMs asking for ship invites and "First to open trade window gets 100k" all the time. Interfering with others' enjoyment of the game? C'mon really? While technically maybe a violation Ive personally witnessed Turbine ignore MUCH MUCH worse.

I dont want to come find you, so I don't go looking for you. Even if I could use the plat (not likely anyway) but I don't care if you want to be silly. If you need an altar and Im bored, maybe Ill be a good neighbor and invite you onto our guild's ship. Maybe discuss crafting, or the game in general, or just break group with a "Good luck" and a "Thank you so much, if you need anything let me know." No one is getting hurt.

Sometimes I see LFMs asking for nothing more than class discussion. Coolness!

As for the tells, not a fan. If I'm trying something new or working toward an achievement or even just scroll farming and someone sends me a tell that says "Bippity boppity boo," or whatever, well lets just say that's an unwanted intrusion into my game time. I probably just wont respond. If it happened again I would cut, paste and send it off to a GM.

I also posted a LFM saying "Name the two most famous players in Khyber & earn 150k!" Everyone knew who I meant & I got a winner pretty fast who received his well earned plat, but I also got PM's insulting me & ppl calling me names.

I play in khyber and I see your good intentions and your will to make people laugh.

First step to avoid other player's hate is to make jokes that everybody (or at least more people than you and your friends) might find funny.
But even with the funniest jokes, our server is full of zerging TR addicts with little or no senses of humour (I know, some of them are friends of mine XD). A joke in the LFM is to them like a "share please" in a PUG for vale quests: Something that most people would ignore, but a crime against the game to them.

My suggestion would be: wait for a server wide joke until it's really really (really) funny. Can you imagine what would happen if half of the players online where posting bad jokes in the LFM? Exactly, you would have to read dozens of BS lines until you find the quest you want to run. A complete waste of tame and patience.

I was playing a little game with friends earlier on Khyber, we all spammed LFM's 20-20s saying stuff like "I like eggs" or "I like ham" and quite a lot of people started to join us doing so, which was really funny. But I got some angry tells saying "stop trolling as*ho**" or things like that, when it wasn't offensive at all.

What's so bad about doing this? Having a little fun after a drink or two. Do we all have to play our own toons and never enjoy the social aspect of DDO?
