Default Looking for epic viable caster build

Having played mostly melee toons, I've decided I want to get into casters. I always want my toons epic viable, so that is a must. Looking for a way to go. Did some reading on here and can't really figure out what's better than the others. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Divine or arcane? DPS, Instakill or CC?

Really, caster builds are fairly simple. Once you answer those two questions you'll have your answer as to what to build.

Well, then you'll probably want to go with a Wizard, taking the Pale Master Prestige Line. You can go WF for self-healing when not in undead forms, enhanced CON, and all the WF immunities that go along with it. Or, you can go Drow and take a CON hit for increased INT score.

Look around on the forums for a Pale Master build and you'll get a good idea of what you should do for what you want.

Either WF Archmage specced Necro/Enchant or (Drow/Elf/Human/Helf) Palemaster with 1 or 2 spell focus feats in Enchantment for CC.

I have a Drow Palemaster (TR 1) with Epic Robe of the Diabolist, rest of my equipment is either raid loot, epic Crystal Cove or random loot. My INT in lich form is 46, raged 487hp. Enchant DC 40, Necro DC 42.

    No yugo pots yet.

    Breakdown:
    Starting with
    12 Str (10 if 32pt)
    10 Dex
    14 Con
    20 Int
    8 Wis
    10 Cha

    End up with
    30 Con: 14 + 2 Tome + 6 Item + 2 Ship buffs + 4 Lich form + 2 Rage
can add +2 yugo +4 tome +7 item +3 exceptional for 38 Con

    46 Int: 20 + 5 levels + 2 Tome + 3 Enhancements + 2 capstone + 7 Item + 3 Exceptional (+2 Cove trinket, +1 epic slot on robe) + 2 Ship buffs + 2 Lich
can add +2 yugo +4 tome for 50 Int

Are the WF natural immunities better than an extra point of int end game?

Probably not. Everyone in raids and epics usually gets Freedom of Movement and immunity to poison and disease in some way.

depends. With spells theirs near nothing you can't recreate. Stoneskin, resists, protections, What you can't create are the extra points that go toward making a spell succeed.

All up to the person. I really don't mind the squishyness, especially as a pale. If you got the spells, and the sp theirs nothing you can't do. But ya gotta think ahead. Which alot don't seem to do. Just saw both a sorc and an AM wiz not be able to easily do delera's part 1. If theirs any place those 2 should be able to take off it's delera's.

Depends on what you mean by "epic ready"

I PUG. I take whoever joins, though usually I make sure there's a healer-type for those who suffer the weaknesses of flesh. I'll buff whoever comes with what I've got and gladly take whatever help folks offer - but I like to be able to handle it myself.

One point of INT and DC is completely manageable, if you're savvy. Wizard isn't always about casting that one thing once, you've got the space now to adequately include debuffs on your list
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane

I have a human capped pm and a wf capped pm and personally I much prefer having self healing whilst in both "stances" with the wf, it's much more versatile and survivable with no noticeable losses.

It's impossible to break a wizard if you do two things. Go Human or WF. Max INT and CON. Extra points into STR is recommended. Now you're set to be an epic viable wizard.

If you've gone Human, you'll probably want to go Pale Master. If you've gone WF, you'll probably want to go Archmage. The differences between these builds come to down to gear and resetting enhancements. You can always switch from one to the other.

    Must have feats:

    Quicken
    Empower
    Maximize
    Heighten
    Toughness/Mental Toughness (Palemaster/Archmage respectively)
... (obviously, if you don't take both, you will have to swap a feat to convert from one to the other)
    Spell Penetration
Spell Focus X (these days Necro is great)
Greater Spell Focus X (same school as before)
    Insightful Reflexes

Then do what you want with the rest of your feats. (Typically Spell Focus Y or more Spell Penetration.) Spell Focus Y should probably be Conjuration or Enchantment.)

    Easy.
