    Exclamation Paypal crashes DDO?

    Hi
i wanted to buy some Turbine Points via PayPal, but its crashed the client.

I clicked on "Check Out with PayPal Method" button, and logged in my PayPal account. Then i click on the Continue (so i confirmed in PayPal), and after this step, when the panel returns to the ddo store the DDO client crashed.

I tried in the Character list screen, multiple times, multiple servers, but client crashed always.
Now i tried in a game (logged with a character), no crash, but it cant load the cart, after i confirmed the paypal method...

This happens to me too, on two different computers and with two different accounts.
Both computers run W7/64bit and are completely different in any other regard.

It does not matter, if I am logged in with a character or not, the result is alway a crash to desktop.
Very unsatisfying, as I (and my girlfrined, who owns the other computer) cannot buy points this way, preventing us from adventuring.

You may want to re-verify your PayPal account. PayPal does ask for that once in a while and can sometimes cause that behavior in the Store.

If after you try that and you still run into the same error, you may want to go to our web form and submit a Tech Support ticket so they can take a look.

This is also happening to me, and just started after the newest update. Filled out a support ticket, hopefully to be resolved soon.

We've had one or two follow up's from players, they indicated that they went back to PayPal and even though they might have recently done so, they went back and re-verified their cards with PayPal, then when they restarted the game and tried again the purchase went through. If you haven't already tried this it's worth a test, otherwise do follow up with support tickets.

I've had crashing issues since the last update. But Paypal worked fine until last night, when the browser hung up while going back to the store after I hit the continue button. Now today, hitting continue causes my game to crash.

    this!

Happening to me too. It is obviously an issue with DDO's browser.

A support request can be submitted here (which is reachable via http://support.turbine.com and clicking on the "Support Center" tab) also one other step to try is putting the game into windowed mode when making the purchase by pressing down the alt key and hitting enter.

If this prevents the issue during the purchase you're going to want to (when you go back to using full screen mode) check in Options > Graphics and make sure that the "Full Screen Resolution" matches what Windows is using for the 'desktop' (e.g. if Windows uses 1280x1024 at the desktop but the game is using 1024x768, change the game to use 1280x1024. The disparity can cause issues with the in-game web browsers displaying of pages that may be resulting in the crash).

Can I just ask, what exactly you mean by "re-verify" your PayPal account? I already have a verified account, and nowhere on the PPal site can I see any buttons, help topics or menu choices for 're-verifying' the account. I've never received an email about this from them, and I've never had this problem outside of DDO.

For the record, I had this problem a few months ago, and I forget how I resolved it, but it wasn't by changing anything on the PayPal side. I've got matching desktop and in-game resolutions too.

Had this exact problem this morning trying to buy points to buy collectible bags at 50% off! GRRRR!!!

Tried on character selection screen or with a character logged in. Everytime, I log into paypal with in-game browser, then get to a page that shows the fund sources, click "continue" and bam! Win7 tells me the dndclient has stopped working...

After you "Confirm" your address at paypal (aka adding a credit card to your account that's billing address matches the one you have listed for paypal), relog DDO. In the DDO Store, select the paypal option for payment. Log into your paypal account in the ddo store. Do not hit the continue button after the log in (the one that crashes ddo). Take note of the address on the top right, then click on the Change link next to the "Payment methods", which should be just below the Shipping address you noted down. Confirm the credit card you have on file is in the drop down listed, and its the one that matches the address that was shown on the previous page. Click continue if they match. It'll take you back to the previous page with the address, change link next to payment methods, and continue button (the one that crashes ddo). Clicking the continue button now, should let it go through and not crash DDO. That's how I got mine to work.

EDIT...note, you can't make more than 2 purchase in succession, it'll fail. You'll get an email saying you tried, but it doesn't actually go through. I'm not sure the time limit on this, how long you have to wait before you can make a second via paypal.

PS, let me know if this works for you

Running the game in fullscreen mode worked for me.

    By the way:
It is almost unacceptable to force users to use an obscure ingame webbrowser to access Paypal.
My normal browser has all sorts of security measures.
The ingame browser on the other hand is completely opaque concerning security.
To exaggerate a little: How do I know that a DDO admin is not filing my Paypal password for a shopping spree later in the evening?

This the most annoying problem. I had to take 8 attempts to buy with paypal, ominous *re-verifying* did not work, I lowered graphic settings from ultra high to very high and it worked. But I had this problem several times before 8with just restarting game and it worked after [random number of attempts] and still it is not solved.

You know, at least a paying customer could expect a working money flow service. I will send a ticket nevertheless, I guess this problem is a little discrete one within all the bug complaints.

You know, I wanted to post here again this morning - checking-out points purchases with PayPal *still* crashes my client, and has done consistently since November or December last year (I posted in this thread a few months ago).

There is still no apparent way to 're-verify' your PayPal account, and none of the technical suggestions described here have any effect. It is really annoying, and as Zweibelring says above, surprising that they haven't jumped on this like a mofo. I didn't play DDO at all for most of this winter season because I couldn't charge my points via PayPal, and only now have I had the resources to do so.

    So, so frustrating.

The same thing happens to me and it has nothing to do with paypal.

My DDO client crashes whenever I try to navigate to an external webpage through the in-game browser. It's a problem with DDO, not a problem with Paypal, and I reported it on the forums but didn't receive any assistance (even though it prevents me from giving DDO money in the easiest manner...)

Don't know if it's the same problem for you. If it is you can always select alternative payment methods and just enter your credit card or whatever.

Cannot confirm since I use ingame Browser only for DDO store or forum. I have this problem for almost 1 1/2 year now but lived with it since I know it works after all after few attempts, but right now it really freaked me out. At some point it should have been fixed. And there we are again with Turbine not showing interest in paying customers. Well, credit card is nothing I ever want to use. I do not have any at all and will not get a credit just for a game. PayPal is as good and an option shown in DDo store. So, either do not show this option any more or fix it.

He, I actually freaked out, because I had another annoying event. I changed a feat and got adamantine body, well, this cute feat displays its armor plates OVER(!) your armor kit, so your bought armor kit becomes invisible.

I wanted to verify that it was shown over your armor (did not know that at any time, searching on known issue list) and sure enough tried buying TPs with paypal. And still, this problem exists, after a thread where a mod twice posted. I mean, do they not want my money? Most of my expenses are actually made for armor kits since existing armor is ugly as hell.

Seriously, I do not have a problem with buying new stuff, but I have a problem, if something unexpected happens and the only tool available is not working while being announced as a possible option. This is bad service. Either remove paypal option till it got fixed or fix it with higher priority. In the end it is money people want to spend but cannot. How's that possible or even intended?

Having had this problem for a couple of years now, I'm pretty convinced it's not PayPal either, hence the 're-verify your PPal account' rubbish we're being told. I asked earlier in this thread for a clarification on that and have had no response so far - because there is no response to that, it's a meaningless statement.

Paying with my CC isn't always an option either, hence my total frustration with this issue. DDO is one of my top two MMOGs of all time, yet I continually have to take months at a time off it because I can't use the store with PayPal!
