Default Summon creature or Freedom of Movement?

Just got access to my 4th level Ranger spells. Looking for a recommendation: better to go with Freedom of Movement or Summon Creature (Razor Cat.)

I like to self-buff as much as possible but don't really know how often the benefits of FoM are applicable during most quests. I also solo a lot so like the additional aggro management that the summoned creature provides.

    Thoughts?

Freedom of movement is much, much more useful than the razor cat (as is cure serious wounds).

    FoM

Great for soloing, and helps you give an added boost/use in raids such as shroud where it can help a group if a ranger passes out FoM rather than a divine caster....If you have high UMD you can get summon scrolls for when you need them or look for summon clickies to help with aggro.

Summons can be done from clickies, scrolls, etc. FOM can only be cast from a spell.....you can find scrolls once in awhile but they are kind of rare. There is only one item that gives FOM....kund. delving boots.....so yeah take fom since there are some many times its more useful especially if you solo.

If you have UMD, you can cast Summon on a scroll. I dont think you cast it from the scroll based on ranger levels.

The wiki says it summons a CR 4 Razor Cat. That isnt going to do much for your aggro. I would go with FoM.

Summons a Challenge Rating 4 Young Razor Cat to fight for you for 10 minutes. You can only have 1 summoned creature of any type serving you at a time. Summoning a new creature of any type will return the previous one to its home plane.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

FOM will be useful right up to level 20, and the summons won't. But that said, you can switch out spells at will in taverns and at rest shrines. If you're soloing in an area you know well and won't be facing anything for which you need FOM (hold, web, slow, grease, sleet storm), feel free to switch over to the cat summons.

Of course, if all you want is an aggro magnet a lower-level summons attracts the same attention, despite being less pretty than the cat.

Actually I think Mass Longstrider is a much better option when soloing.
