    Default Paladin Glorious Stand Removed?

    Hey,

I was re-reading the release notes and noticed that Glorious Stand for the pally 3 Syberis was not listed. I thought that perhaps it was just left off, but the start of the patch note says that they were "modified". With all the goodies that got added, did they remove Glorious or was it just not listed on the notes??

Glorious Stand remains unchanged, so we didn't include it in the notes. It's the same as on Live right now.

Though it certainly should be changed.
What's up with the arbitrary dr/epic which only velah's claws can bypass?

IMO the cool down is way too long, and it doesn't last long enough. It should definitely be changed yeah.

I find I rarely ever use Glorious stand because of the short duration and long cooldown. As a result I save it for when everything hits the fan, but even so that only rarely happens but even so, against a big red name 30 seconds goes by quickly and isn't really long enough.

Glorious stand would be much better if the duration went to 1 minute and if I had to have a longer cooldown to get it I would take that trade-off any day. Honestly you should only need to use glorious stand once against a red name for when things go sideways. With GS on, a 1 minute duration should hopefully give the rest of the party enough time to recover while you keep the attention of the big red name with minimal support from the healers. To me, that seems to be the main point of Glorious Stand, to give the Pally a chance to save the day

I think this is all quite absurd. As someone that worked towards the prestiege from day one, I've used the 30 second stand on numerous occasions. Personally, 30 seconds is plenty of time for a team to recover. Of course, I play an actual paladin tank, so turning it on is usually overkill for a quest as is.

I've been the savior of many parties on plenty of runs, Normally I used my 5th LoH to bring back up a Healer and get to work..

Personally, the prestiege is overkill enough as it is. Just the other day I went on a bored streak. I slowly prodded my way through the Sub, and into VoD by myself. While I couldn't kill Suulo, I was able to tank tank around in there for 80 minutes before I died. Yes, my pinky was tired.

If there's anything they need to do, or for me to complain about. It's not having an active block button like the Auto-attack. I would have also thought it to be a good idea for it to become /active/ when most of the party has fallen, but I would lose the enjoyment of being able to activate it at any time that I might view as a threat tot he party.
..That or wondering why I'm not allowed to keep my wings visible. They could easily fold up and have an on/off button in the options or something. lol, but that's not really of any importance. :P

If I paraphrase you, you use it all the time (since you hit 18 though) but this feature is an overkill because you pretty much never need to use it on normal quests or raids since you save the day with your other feats (LOH, AC tank, etc)...

I think that's the point of everyone else... When it wouldn't be an overkill to use it it's actually useless because far too short and very long cooldown. And even if these were changed the bonuses aren't that great for epic quests where any trash mob hits you for 40+ physical dmg.
I'd suggest you run epic quests and raids and see how many times you save the day with it.

I do tank and run epics daily, Matter of fact I often do runs with anyone that would enjoy my help as a tank with things like ToD and E-Chrono and so forth. I have plenty of specific occasions that I use the clicky as well that last just long enough to do the job I wish for it too. Such as the very beginning fight in E-tide, I'll click that and take up all the arrows while the party rids of the starting mess. You don't hit anything like this untill later after the timer cools off.

Not that this should work well in epics, since the dr is supposed to be DR20/epic.

My notions about using it to save the day was just an easy example, especialy since that's the time to use it. My notice is that it does it's job with way more than enough time, if you need to use more of it, then the party is not going to finish what ever it was up to the task for.

I click it numerous times a day, and out of research, going into VoD alone and to waste my own personal time for everyone. About 9 (leaving me 3 turns for PoE, and SoF) uses of it allows me to set in VoD for an Hour and Twenty minutes (Near 20 spent killing the first orthon batch, as I have low dps) before I fall.

And I apologise for not going into extreme detail for the forums, I forget how specific and paraphrased one may get. What I meant was, Normally... Once I see a party going down (Which is nicely not too often anymore now that people are starting to know what they're doing), I will use the 5th click I have ((Having taken the other 3+1 I get at start.) Since I usually never have to heal till this falling situation arrives, Thank you healers.) to raise the healers, right after I start up a Last Stand. Not that there are times where I don't enjoy turning it on at random just to see some pretty low damage numbers, and overly high healing numbers.
((Combat): You were healed by Doktso's heal for 8,855 points.) :P

If anything, being able to use it more often would be outright overkill. You're not supposed to be Invulnerable, but look at what I've proven you can do with it. It's again, absurd, that anyone would wish to use this more often. Not that I can't say within my heart that I'ld not enjoy sticking with everyone else and wish to have it's timer reduced or something like that. But it's just too much realistically speaking.

Edit: Lol, also, I'm not sure who says that they recast their mantles, but Suulo sure didn't when it went away. xP

nothing real to contribute to this thread(cept that glorious stands double heal works wonders regardless of epic or non) but way to go. i had identical build. gotta agree the dps bad, but we live long enough to do the damage over time. though popping few smite enhancements in will give very nice dps, and the longevity of ur build will allow recharges.

Yeah, It probably should just be dr/- ( though doesn't Lailat also do epic damage? Meh.)

Also, I'd be in total support of changing it to 1:30 duration and 10:00 cooldown. Maybe make it share the Faith cooldowns while you're at it. Just making it last longer than 30 secs.

Not quite true. Popping a few smite enhancements might give very nice d, but there is no ps to accompany it when you have to wait 90 secs for each use.

The problem with Glorious stand in my mind is that it has the same shortcoming as many of the pally abilities (smite, sacrifice, lay on hands) in that it is very nice in the short term, but pretty insignificant in a long fight. And every endgame boss fight is an endurance contenst. What if glorious stand regenerated some/all of your smites and LoHs? That way it could be used as either an "oh S***" button or a re-up to stay viable in a long fight.

He is right, while I have taken up Exaulted Smite II just to keep myself up in the ball game a little more, it doesn't make up for what you should really be accounting for. Which is why with this update comeing out, I dropped a toughness, and took up Bastard Swords for the sake of a higher dps. Khopeshes are nice, but I can't go around tanking and relying on my Smites to be my aggro holder.

However, the 70% bonus is about to help out a lot... though I'm gonna be losing a pretty big portion of what I farmed the leviks set for. ...speaking of which, I'm still under complaints on why DoS set and the Leviks set, as defender builds, give a bonus to STR.. But that's for another place, I'm just ranting. :P

If I had anything to give on actually changing it, I would feel good with it Sapping Turn Uses for a constant cast. Every 30 secconds it eats 2 or 3 Turn attempts or something like that untill you're out. (As in the more turns you have, the bigger your faith is, or something Rp-ish like that. :P) But that was just my idea.

true that. as far as mine went though its roughly 600 dps for 9 seconds till recharge needed. bout 5,400 damage. for dps dump build thats not horrible really. cooldown wait is kinda boring though. but i suggested it cause this guy seems to take the time to get the charges back

There are some other times to use glorious stand...

    • Oh ****!!! moments
    • Just before you leap into a large mob
    • 20 Seconds before Blades close in
    • When low on HP standing next to a Radiant Servant with Aura running to speed up the only healing happening
    • Just before you run through the Fire/Lightning/Acid/Cold Trap
    • When SP is low and you still have to kill something before you shrine

My point being to often we "Save" something for when we really need it. The problem is most of us know when we really need it and even know that its over 5 minutes and one shrine away we will still sit on it.

My opinion on why so many people think paladin's don't match up to fighters and barbarians is that they are running or running with Paladins that don't use all there stuff before the next shrine... Use the SP, the clickies, skills, smites, and sacrifices. When a paladin goes down and has all of these things still available to them, its just as sad as a Divine dieing with SP.

Paladins stand up and use your skills - you will be all the better for it.
