I had elf 2wf dex based rog as 1st character - mine observation was that i won't go finesse way ever again

Drop OTWF and grab PA if you don't get sneak attack - you are doing it wrong

Str to 16, Dex to 15 or 16, Leave the Con, drop Int to 12. All level ups to Str.

    Finesse -> Power Attack

OTWF should be swapped to Khopesh unless you plan to TR, then OTWF should go to Past Life:Rogue when you do and dont bother making nice Khopesh.

If you are bent on leaving it a Dex build, swap OTWF for Power Attack.

Int to 12. That would mean that I need to drop a skill. Which skill would you suggest? Also, if I were to go kopesh instead of rapiers, which is what I'm using now, then should I replace improved crit piercing with slashing?

Drop hide. Hide helps me sneak up and assassinate things. Why do you say drop hide?

You are doing sneak attack if you don't have aggro.
To preform assassinate you need to be in sneak mode.
Hide can only help you if you go solo and try to go pass mobs and I didn't find hide helpful in groups and it is not connected with sneak attack dmg.
You have then choice between move silently, tumble, diplomacy, hide, open lock ...

For the dropped skill id probably take jump/tumble up half and half, hide/ms can both be quite handy, if you plan to play a sneaky thief, if you dont then both will be a waste of points.

Youll eventually get your jump-clicky amrath belt at which stage most of your Jump points will be wasted.

I actually sneak all the time. So jump and tumble can both be reduced. I would imagine that after I reach 7 and the tome kicks in I can then start putting points in both. I've read that jumping caps at some point. Can you tell me any information about that? It might effect how many points I put into jump at all.

Cap for jump is 40 iirc.

So a Str build with the 30 jump clicky hits this really easily.

The clicky adds 30 to jump? My guild runs amrath quests frequently so I should get that belt eventually. With so many points in str, should I invest in jump at all? Speaking of my guild running amrath quests... I have run sins with them many times trying for that assassin belt with no success. I log in yesterday and they start telling me that they ran sins while I was logged out and 4 assassin belts dropped. They kept going on about how so many dropped but no one in the group was an assassin so no one needed it. My guildies are mean...

And as for hide and MS I backpack Epic claw with 56 buffed (only the ones that last more than 10min) and dont get seen. I did alot of testing this on my rogues 1st life: 54=fail every time, 55=50/50 chance of fail, 56=no fail. I real wish I would have taken screen shots of this testing (guess I still could, but I'm lazy). When I TR'd my rogue I used the 56 as a goal for all my trapping skills and Hide/MS and only counted in what I could self buff and that lasted for a while/gear swapping. I have only failed on epic traps that I forgot to swap all my gear on, but I still have some issues with elite gianthold (the DC's on some of those things are nuts).

What I'm tring to say here is look at your skills and gear. See what you want to swap and what you dont want to swap around. Once you know the numbers that fit your gameplay use your planner to findout what numbers you need to hit and how far you realy need to boost your int. You might find out that a base 12 with a +2 tome is more than plenty, but keep in mind you assasinate DC is based off your int mod.

If the OP wanted to play a barbarian they'd probably roll a barbarian.

@OP, rapiers are fine. With the drow enhancements, they are maybe 5% behind khopesh, before you even take sneak attack into consideration. Also, turbine is now adding new weapons that can use dex as damage mod. Currently the only good one for assassins is epic midnight's greetings, but I imagine they'll add more in the future. Therefore, you're probably not losing much in the long run for going dex.

Also, never drop INT on an assassin. I'd say 16 minimum on a drow, since INT on drow is so cheap (assassinate owns, and the higher your int, the more it owns). 14 STR is fine, 16 will only give you one more point of damage/hit, which is not a big deal, but costs 4 build points. Build points which you need elsewhere, especially on a drow rogue (-2 con blows).

If I started a drow rogue from scratch, I'd go something like:
    14 str
    16 dex
    14 con
    16 int
    8 wis
    10 cha

With extra points from TR into CHA for more UMD goodness.

Also, 12 con is workable if you're willing to get all the HP gear available out there.

Edit: I say this again, unless you *want* to go a full ****** build, don't bother with taking STR over 14 base. The 1-2 extra damage you can squeeze out of your base stats will be not even be noticable, when you're hitting things for an average of what, 150 damage per hit just from your weapon+sneak attack.

Thank you for telling me about needing 56. Right now with skill boost on my skill is 57. Lowering int by 2 would put it at 56 which is right on target. If I can finally get the stuff to make the carnival rogue armor epic my +15 dd gloves will be replaced by +20 dd armor so I won't have to worry at all.

Regarding the assassinate skill, 2 days ago I ran weapons shipment in amrath on elite with my guild. I was up in the cave on the right in sneak mode and I would try to assassinate every mob that spawned. It worked on 90%+ of the dogs, 100% of the tiefling casters, 90%+ of the archers, and about 50% of the tiefling fighters. Lowering my assassinate dc by 1 point would reduce that success rate probably. Still weapons shipment is something like a level 21 quest on elite so I wouldn't be running into mobs with fortitude saves that high usually.

Thank you guys for the help. It seems that wooden hearts are on sale right now. Hopefully I'll be much better off after the LR. I'm just glad I decided to make the +45 hp greensteel bracers instead of the greensteel rapier the other day. Well they're just +25 hp now. Just 1 more upgrade to go.

Elite Shavarath quests often have higher saves than epics. Hell, even normal sometimes feel like that, simply due to the fact that everything there gets automatic GH, which is +4 to saves. So, if you're satisfied with your assassinate success rate there, you'll probably do well in epics too.

I think right now my assassinate dc is 37. It seems to be working fine. If I change my stats to the ones you suggested then the dc would be 38. I like the sound of that. Plus 1 more skill to up. Maybe bluff.

Edit: Wait it is 38 already. Ok, 39 then.
