    Default Epic item updates

I apologise if this question has been asked and answered. I looked around, but apparently don't use the ddo forum search very well.

That said, I'm wondering if, after the update, an existing item is placed in the altar for upgrade, any slot enhancements already in place are lost.

Many thanks for information on this. I know after the cove birthday event they figured out a slot non-destructive upgrade, just wondering if it's implemented in this go around.

Yes, if you choose to upgrade an item you already have to the new version, you will lose any augments that are currently slotted. Unfortunate, but true.

You will also lose any alchemical rituals you have added to the item, such as +1 force damage, or +1 dodge bonus to AC or Adamantine rituals.

It's like when you put the original item into the altar to make it epic in the first place. Old item destroyed along with anything it had, new item created.

Correct, as are the other responses.

You will receive a blank, new item upon which you then have the opportunity to augment.
