Inversely and exponentially proportional to the amount of Healer's Friend enhancements and other sources of healing amp you acquire.
Yes exactly this.
Under level 10, I get a bit miffed if I'm expected to look after a WF with no healing amp.
However provided they aren't rude, and play carefully, I'm usually willing to help.
Fortunately, most WF I've met in this case carry repair pots.
Here's a hint -
One WF gave me a mnemonic pot, I gave him all the heals I could.
This way I still had plenty of sp for the rest of the group.
The thing is, healing WF can soak up the sp, and is slower.
From my perspective it's the persons attitude that raises the hate levels, not the WF thing.
My thinking is if you plan on being WF, you should have some plan to help with your healing.
Last thing,
Arcane's don't always carry repair spells of course, or they may not want to play healer.
Don't expect them to heal you either.
Perhaps carry repair (or cure) wands for people?
People usually give them back at the end of the quest.

From mine experience pots can heal you to lvl 10 or so and it is useful to ask arcane to heal you with wand that you provide them if you stick for few runs in groups... Then you'll need pocket clrc / pocket barrage or just pike when you're health are under 50%. Be sure to take at least 2 ranks in healers friend ( only 6 AP for 20%) get or craft docent of blood and try to get 20% healing amp ToD ring / levik's / dragon torched ( in that case 10% and 20% )

Well, I thought that a WF Barb would be the best complementary character for a group of Artificers. My Lamania experiences told me that Artificers alone can not deal with taking all the agrro, while they can do great if all the hate is directed somewhere else.
They can also buff a WF to greater effect.
Best races for barbarian: Half orc for max dps, or human for max healing amp (tanking easy)
Warforged are old now
However in ddo, years ago they put "hirelings". If you need a nanny bot why use a party member? In quest you use your hireling and he will heal you. In raids you will be healed by mass heal together with other melee.
It depends both on how easy the WF Barb makes himself to heal, and how much he's actually contributing.
Blood crafted shards and Healer's Friend 1 and maybe 2 are easy to get and use for the lower levels.
Fleshmaker's Docent until you make a healing amp Dragontouched, Epic Claw Set, Levik's Bracers until you can craft 20% healing amp on one of your ToD rings are all more grindy but very useful ways to increase your amp (and many of them double as DPS gear).
Then, playing smart makes a huge difference.
Everybody will love you when you are tanking sulu. The divines will love you when you get some good healing amp. The arcarne will love you when you give them some wands and scrolls to keep you up. If you trade the capstone for evasion and UMD you don't have to care about how much the healers love you anymore (at least not that much..).

Lots of people still like WF for tanks; arcanes can help heal, immune to energy drain, lots of HP, etc.
This post made me remind of the last shroud I went on with my 400hp monk AA helf. He was not at cap, even so, I consider him to have few hit points...
In last fight with Harry My friends melee WF that have almost double my hit points (and ZERO investments in heal amp) was dead, while I was being easily healed.
As everybody else said before, some heal amp is really good in a WF melee...
The amount of healers friend and healing amp you have is secondary.
Can you kill everything in sight and hold agro?
If you can't do that, then you can have all the healers friend and healing amp you want.... the healers will still view you as a mana sponge and hate your guts.
Competance trumps gear and stats every time
While WF may not be that max uber dps of a horc the difference isn't that much, however the WF is much more durable and can be healed by divine's and repaired by arcanes. The immunities, faster access to 100% fort, and extra WF enhancements still make an awsome barb......however, you must get to 100% healing as quickly as possible and always have tons of repair pots on hand and use them even if there is a healer healing.
Docent of blood is very low level to give you a 10% 12% boost since its stacks oddly with other sources of amp. Healers friend tier 1 and 2....then leviks, dragon touched, greensteal with 30% amp, and eventually epic claw for 30%. Be mindfull alike amps do not stack.....like 10% from gs doesn't stack with 10% on dragon touched. By cap you can easily get to 110% to 120%. I would also suggest grinding out silver flame favor to get silver flame pots (basically heal spell in a pot). They have drawbacks but you can work around them. These pots IMO work best on a barb and make you self sufficent.
Thelanis - Green Mtn Boys - Level 200
As long as you take at least 2 levels of healers friend you will be ok. Only noob healers don't like to heal WF barbs. If one dosen't have healers friend I personally don't heal them as well and let them die!!!!
Another thing I'll add onto this is just because you can frenzy, doesnt mean you must frenzy 24/7. In the process of leveling things will odten be dying fast enough without frenzy that the only thing it will normally do is tick off a divine. However, in situations where you need the added dps, or there is ample ambient healing through centered mass heals or a radiant servant aura then frenzy.
So, I would say just be a good judge of when you should and should not frenzy. If you are killing mobs in 1 - 2 swings, might not be the best time to start losing hitpoints for no real benefit other than to make a healer think you're a sponge so that by the time when you really should be frenzying the healer has already written you off as self-centered resource drain.
In a group, I don't care at all. At least you're not a 300 hp elven fighter with light maces. I expect and demand that you spend 100% of your time double frenzied and supreme cleaving where appropriate.
In a mass raid beatdown..
If you don't have enough amp to let me cast nothing but mass heal through harry, I will hate you with the force of 1000 suns.
If you don't have enough amp to let me cast nothing but single heal when you're tanking without a dedicated arcane, I'll be really rather upset.
Or just let you die, y'know.
The only thing that really justifies warforged over dwarf is the existance of eSoS. When armed with axes, the warforged is +2/-5 dam/hit over dwarf - with identical hp and tactics.
