DDO UNDELETED SERVICE – My (bad) experience

Hi Thelanis,

Two weeks ago I rage-quit (because of n00bs during a TR) the game and I deleted my 3 main toons.
3 days later the DDO addiction began to raise up in me and I decided to make use of the “Turbine Undelete Service”.


This is a great service, for "only " 19.90 U.S. $/toon a Turbine’s technician restores your deleted toon(s).
The service works pretty fine: Turbine undeleted my 3 toons (for 59.70 U.S.$) in about 2 days.

PRO

1) Fast service (sure, we pay (a lot) for it)

CONS

1) If someone’s got your old name, your toon(s) will have a new name(s) = nameold(s). In my case: Fizbanius = Fizbaniusold, Horldando = Horlandoold, ecc…
Turbine says “If the name of your undeleted character is already in use on the server, you will automatically be assigned a free rename credit”. But:
a) I received only 1 free rename credit whereas I paid for 3. I’m still waiting for the other 2 (strange because for a service I paid for Turbine has been so fast)
b) They don’t say that your surname cannot be renamed so if, for example, your toon name is linked to the surname you’re @°*!$ up. This is not specified. Please fix it!

2) You lose ALL the items in your Reincarnation Cache!!! The service FAQ's says:

What will NOT be returned with a Character Undelete?
Things that will NOT be returned include:

• Friends List
• Ignore List
• Guild information and status
• Money and Items not yet detached in mail
• Outstanding auction items and bids
• Items in Shared Storage bound to the character being Undeleted

All the items (BtC too) in every toon account has been saved. All the items in Shared Bank Account has been saved. But ALL the items in Reincarnation Cache have gone lost!

I TR’d Horlando 2 days before my rage quit. What I had (and lost) in Reincarnation Cache was:

3 * +3 Tomes (DEX, WIS, CHA)
1 Epic Chaosblade
1 Epic Mirage
1 Epic Unkor's Cleaver
7-8 ToD Rings
Epic Boots of Corrosion
Epic Charged Gauntlets
Epic Envenomed Cloak
Epic Scorched Bracers
Epic Helm of Frost
Epic Vulkoorim Fighting Leather
Almost 200 Epic Tokens crafted on the epic items
1 Bloodstone
1 Tharne's Google
3 Madstone Boots
1 Torc of Prince Rayium II
2 * Khopeshes Lit II
1 GS Necklace of Concordant Opposition (5LDS)
1 Epic Ring of Baphomet
1 Minos Legens
1 Tharne's Bracers
1 Bracers of Demonic Consort
1 Seal of the Earth
1 Dragontouched Armor
1 Epic Vambracers of Inner Light
..plus some other powerfull items I don't remember...

Now English is not my native language but I understood “Items in Shared Storage bound to the character being Undeleted” = Items BtC in the Shared Account. For sure, you cannot put any BtC item in the Shared Account so I should have understood something was wrong.

In conclusion: error maybe was mine, but Turbine please change the phrase from "Items in Shared Storage bound to the character being Undeleted" to "Items in Reincarnation Cache being Undeleted".

Did I simply miss the point or something could be really modified in this service?

Wow... Must have been something pretty bad to make you rage-quit, I've ran with Fizbanius a few times, you're a good bloke and pretty patient.

Ouch. I doubt there's anything they can do to restore the items in the cache. You're probably not the first person hit by this.

That's a great suggestion, but you shouldn't have to point it out to Turbine. I would expect that Turbine would have the description accurate by now, especially as the service has been offered for a long time.

So sorry cause you're lose mate, tho to be fair you got that on you're back by you're own actions
But you spend alot of $ for 3 min of nerd rage, and got "half service". I honestly hope that you'll get some of those items back ( at least one that you can see on myDDO )

You should be able to grind that back, if you get CB scroll -> mail it to kkrosan he will be safe and I promise to use it in crafting purposes, nothing other

When I remember my early days of PnP Roleplaying, I always see the tape-repaired character sheet of my brother.
I don´t know how many times he did this.
Now as an adult he just breaks the keyboard (cracking it over the knee, he makes no prisioners)

I don't know when the page was last updated but if you scroll further down to the section titled "DDO Character Undelete Policies" there is a warning about the TR cache.

• The Character Undelete service is irreversible.
• Any Character Undelete fees are non-refundable.
• Turbine reserves the right to deny a Character Undelete request for any reason in its sole and absolute discretion.
• Character Undeletes are not guaranteed.
• Characters are returned as they were at the time of deletion.
• If your character’s name is already in use on the destination world when the Character Undelete is finalized, you will be prompted in-game to choose a new character name.
• Any bound items in the shared bank and items in the reincarnation cache are lost!

Sorry to hear you lost stuff. My only advice, next time the noobs get to you hit Alt+F4 (really punch the keys, it feels better) and walk away for a few days instead of the delete button.

What I cannot undertand is why

I doubt there's anything they can do to restore the items in the cache.

Aren't they like Gods? Cannot they create a +6 set of tomes? So why it is possible to restore everything but what's in the Reincarnation cache?

Next time don't delete characters - move on another server for few days, weeks or take break from ddo.
Else i might say in raids don't give loot to fiz / fiz need to give loot away

BTW at what lvl was that low lvl pug - cause i personal don't bother to pug till lvl 8-9 ( tear, delara, pit )

Touching on this little bit that hasn't been yet.

/Changesurname has been non-functional forever. Comes back up every once in a while, with much begging and offering-of-bribes, but to no avail.

Pretty sure there's some back-field database issues that prevent them from giving us that option in any form.
