    Default Bard and Staff

As anyone tried to play a pure warchanter using a staff? I dont have all the races so probably human...

I'm looking forward to TR my gimpy Drow bard (which started as a hagglebot, of which i got borred) and the idea of fighting with a staff occured to me. I've never seen a build which was using staff.

Bard in need of help, tks!

War Chanters get a free martial proficiency; using a staff would be pretty weak.

I could see it on a Spellsinger for sure - and many of them use the abbot staff or a dreamspitter to be sure. Virts could as well I guess.

... but bards have the simplest access to Master's Touch and little spell-slot competition. Very easy for them to just use whatever martial weapon they want.

Grrr.. would have been easier if you had answered: Wow, thats a brilliant idea!

Now.. what should I do... With all the builds out there, i'm utterly confused... The only thing i know is I want a Pure Warchanter able to do DPS in epic without being Gimpy. (34point build it will be)

Going TWF spreads my stats... And i don't want to go finesse.

Going THF maximize my STR point allocation, but then, Elydge Edge and Falcata are One-handed... I have'nt looked at all the two-handed epic weapon though... Maybe one could suit me well I don't know...

Any hint of a build? I played with the Character builder and it confuses me even more, my knowledge of races advantage, of weapon and epic stuff is lacking and mmaking me lost.

You could go TWF dual wielding Epic Elyd Edge with a char based dmg/to hit mod after U11 which would allow you to bring str and dex to its minimum requirements and max out char.

Default Limited xp with staff weilding bards.

I am fascinated by the acrobat Pre for rogues because they use staves. So, I started mix it with different classes, one of which was a bard. I took the drow race because the bonuses to int, dex, and cha. I called it my pole dancer build. I starting ablilities were 14/16/12/16/10/16. The class split was 13 rogue(acrobat II/ 7 bard(virtuoso I). She was fun to play short buffs, umd, trap skills, and songs. This became more of a sneak character, then group because many people dont let virtuosos lead.

Tactics: Sneak into room invisible and buffed, fascinate mobs, bluff mobs, then attack.

If you are looking for more bard, then rogue. You could split the levels bard 14/rogue 6 (acrobatI), or bard12/rogue7/fighter1(or barb1), or bard 8/rogue7/fighter5(warchanter). Dont know how these would work because I have not played them yet>

The only problem I found playing a bard staff weilder was the breaking of enthrallment from glacing blows . It's not the most uber or min/max character but she had flavor .

I like taking a minimum build and maximizing it. Good Luck and Have fun!

A spellsinger with a staff might be interesting with the new staff upgrade on lam

    from the lam update notes

All spells cast from two-handed staves now use the wielder's caster level as well as calculate their DC's using the wielder's casting ability score, if they are better than the staff's default values.

    That might make this fun

You said warchanter so I had posted E Souleater, but if you changed your mind, with the changes to staffs if you went the caster route Epic Staff of Acane Power is another good option.

And would EEE break most red name resistence...? I've figured going dual EEE, but was slowed by this questionning. If i go pure warchanter with max charisma, should i go human or drow?

Tks! I've seen so many builds I got drunk of them. I was tempted by a dwarven warchanter and it seems to fit what i want. Tks!
