    Default Regarding Challenge Tokens.......

So the devs changed the five challenge tokens per day for a certain challenge to one per day for any challenge. OK, I can live with that, but what I have a tough time swallowing is that if I FAIL in the challenge I lose my token, and can't run it again until 24 hours have passed.

I propose changing this to the same system as the compasses in Crystal Cove, where if the party (or individual) fails in the challenge you get to keep your token to try again. This seems reasonable to me considering we only get one per day per toon, and considering that, from a personal standpoint, I run challenges solo. It is VERY rare to see an LFM for a challenge, at least on Orion.

    What do you all think?

Difficult. Cove is free, the challenges aren't. In fact I think the challenges are among the most expensive things in the store. I don't see them making any more changes any time soon.

your right challenges are hardly posted, i posted for a week straight and tons o bites but others seem to be hesistant of posting for it.

anyways i agree to some degree, challenge tokens should be refunded, but i think they should still shell out 5, the only difference is instead of being restricted to 5 challenges from before update, is now you can roam between any 5 you want.

heck i even horded tokens, and used them all once a week. so it really makes no differnce between choosing between 1 challenge once or 1 challenge 5 times.

I'm not sure why you say that the challenges aren't free. They ARE free, at least partially. Everyone is entitled to one free challenge token per day per toon. You can get one in House C or in Eveningstar.

If you are referring to the Vaults of the Artificers adventure pack (which includes access to all the challenges), then yes, I agree. That's NOT free. If you are referring to purchasing several challenge tokens from the DDO store then yes, I agree. Those are NOT free.

But I'm not talking about either of those. I'm referring to the free tokens, and I suppose by extension, also the ones you can purchase.

Perhaps I wasn't clear. Cove is free, so DDO and more specifically the DDO marketing team don't care how many times you enter/leave with the same compass.

While I like your idea, I'm afraid it would see a drop in the number of store-bought tokens as well as a decrease in people buying the packs. So for that reason I can't see it happening.

No. The free token is meant to be a sample only, and could be easily abused for loot running if it were not consumed win or fail. Just enter a challenge with a lot of easily accessed reds such as kobold island, kill the reds, recall, repeat.

I'm going to bet that isn't the Turbine official line. Naturally it is their decision based on their business model.

Having said that, if it was my business, I would keep it at a number that allows people to earn some rewards, but just enough to entice them to actually pay for it. Failing and loosing the token is not good for that model, as it will turn too many of them off completely thus reducing the chase of a followup purchase.

Of course, I would probably then make it one token a week, but I would have to see some actual data.

I personally feel the 1 universal token/day that is lost if you fail is more than fair for a F2P experience. Like the previous post, I also intuitively feel it's too generous a posture.

If that's not enough, I don't think it's unreasonable to have to pony up some cash or TP to have it just the way you want it.
