have to throw my 2 cents onto not happy with my VIP status right now due to things like this. for my opinion i'm paying money each month so that i get full access instead of doing micro-transactions, but i'm actually considering if it would be smarter to just buy tp with my monthly money instead. then i could buy quests when they're on sale... which i can't do as a vip even though i have tp available. i feel like i'm being punished and i actually can't think of any reason other than i'm lazy and don't want to save tp for several months that i'm still VIP.

OK...as someone who DROPPED their VIP status due to the massive amount of core material not in the game, let me say this:

The game is how many years old now and we STILL don't have DRUIDS...a CORE class???????

Sure, Turbine has given us a SIMULATION of Favored Souls, Sorcerers and Wizards that STILL have NO familiars, Clerics and Paladins that STILL have no DOMAIN spells and Drow that have NONE of their Spell-like abilities...so are we really durprised when the VIPs get bent over a barrell with no lubrication used on the Artificers? REALLY????

We either accept and support the game as (flawed as it) is, or we find another one to play till we hear news of a "fix" and come back to see if it's a TRUE fix.

But I also want to say this to TURBINE:

If Neverwinter Nights can create PERFECT versions of the CORE and supplemental classes for their game and have it run SMOOTH...maybe you need to hire some of their developers to fix your f-ups! Just saying! There is NO legitimate reason that Druids should NOT be in the game now...same goes for the above listed shortcomings! This SHOULD be your wake-up call to step it up and get your sh*t together...because not ALL gamers are as patient or semi-understanding as I have been...and when Neverwinter Online hits later this year, if you guys haven't ironed out the bugs, you might not ever see us come back!

Many want nothing to do with neverwinter nights online for these main reasons

1. Its not really a MMO
2. Its going to be 4E

I am ok with the game requiring an in-game (in this case favor) unlock even for ViP's... But not waiting 3 or so months to get it.

I agree for Premium or f2p but When I pay 15/month for a game I expect to get all new content without paying extra. is this unreasonable?

It's always nice to get a bonus for all the favor grind.. But seriously.. We chose to buy all the content we wanted as premiums, VIP's didn't!

This decision was made by the sales/marketing department. they have goals they must meet and obviously they cant make those goal with current sales in the DDO store.

If VIP players have to buy Artificer....well, I think it's BS! We pay a monthly sub to have access to EVERYTHING and able to unlock hard/elite off the bat. We don't always have access to those that we gain access to through VIP, if we make a monk and VIP runs out, guess what? We can't access that character until we buy the class or re-sub VIP. I guess you could say we're renting.


I think this is a kick in the guts to VIP honestly. Months, years of constant subscription and this is what we get? Yeah, sorry Turbine but this takes the cake. I've seen DDO slowly become a cash cow, slowly seen the direction go from being a community game, to a game where someone can make a quick buck.


If and when Artificer comes, and if VIP still need to buy it, I'll be protesting by cancelling my Sub and moving on to another game.

It SHOULD be a Total Favor Unlock, just like Drow and FvS are. I can understand the desire to tie into House C, makes total sense to want to do it that way. Honestly, it does.

But to NOT have the favor available to EARN at Launch is the Fail.

Turbine, change it; make it so that you unlock;

1. Total Favor, more then FvS grants Unlock. "Most" ViP, I assume, can attain this right away or within a short timeframe, much shorter then 3-4 months!

2. House C Favor Unlock in U12. Wait til end of the year and Unlock with C favor specifically, lower benchmark then Total Favor.

3. Buy it three days after Launch.



At least the new content in U12 will be filled with awesomesauce loot! To bad you will not be able to use any of it unless you pay TP to equip it or wait 4 months for the next Update to equip it. Quests are free but to use any loot, gonna cost you ViPs more.

True we dont get it free but we had immediate access to both of those classes to begin with have a realistc favor goal and alot of people have toons well over 3000 favor would it have been so hard to make it a 3000 favor unlock.
So yes access should be allowed right off the bat sure makeit a challange and say you need this much favor but do not tie the favor to a specific house leave it to over all favor.

Yeah, for 2500 favor. I've never gotten more than 1600 fav on any of my toons. I bought FvS, cause I got more fun things to do than grind favor for 3 months

I left the game on Update 5 day 1 and I left with over 2500 favor on Ghallanda and while it was very tiresome to do back then I did it. It was fun but I came back to another server a year and one week later to find that people have become excessively lazy and it is extremely hard to find the quests being done on elite. Even when I open a LFM for quests on elite I hardly ever get takers. I finally did get 1750 favor ONLY because I had more packs to do the quests on normal. Will I even get 2500 favor now? Nope, not going to happen but I hold out hope that U11 lights the fire under people's rears again with the xp carrot dangling in front of them.

So, I agree with you at this moment but in the past you would have been wrong and I hope with U11/U12 you are again. The sad thing is, if I am reading this correctly, is that we will need House C favor and not simply an all in one like the FvS does.

Although I agree with most of what you said I's be carefull with what you are looking at here. NWN Online is NOT an extension of the NWN line. Wehe NWN and NWN 2 were based on the 3.x line of D&D, NWN Online is a D&D 4.0 product. So your classes won't work anything like what they did in NWN.

I agree, in spirit, that Turbin needs to hire some of the NWN programmers because DDO is nowhere in the neiborhood as a good representation od D&D goes when compared with NWN.

I would disagree, they can survive. This is because the VIP's privide a stable guranteed revenue each and every month. The Premimum croud is for burst revenue.

I expect Druids to NOT be free to VIPs and unlockable by favour. Based on the overwhelming demand and impatience for this class, everyone will (at least Turbine expects to) shell out for this class, even if it costs 2k TP.

Since Druids will not be free, I thought Turbine would do offer a compromise on Artificiers. Remember they gave Half-elf and Half-orcs free to VIPs and unlockable by favour. I was thinking either Turbine would give 50% off for VIPs, or if they are really generous free for VIPs.

In this case, Turbine have chosen the middle road for the Artificiers - charge VIPs and lockable by favour. I think this is a decent compromise for all players, to balance the Half-bloods and likely the upcoming druids.

I have no problems with this, as I knew from the start of joining VIPs there are certain features which can only be unlocked by favour - like 32-point builds and Favoured soul. Both which I bought. I have not tried out the Arti on Lammania, but it looks interesting. I'm not that keen to roll one now, so maybe I'll grab it when it goes on sale.

However, judging by the teeth-gnashing on Artificiers not being free, I fear the coming druids will result in a bloodbath then.

It's not a matter of ViP, Premium, sales, core class or not, favor unlock or not.

Its that the simple mechanism to unlock is not available to 'earn' for 3-4 more months, for anyone.

My feeling is that it should be released when all options are viable. It seems like creating a class that is purchasable only for 3 months just to make it a favor unlock seems illogical. Idk I just woke up.

Seriously though, having played them on Lamma I can wait indefinitely for this class. They are not useful in any way other than being a deviation from what we currently play.

Now - to be honest I haven't read what all the others have been saying - but...

I'm premium and I understand why VIP's a mad.. They pay to get everything without having to pay extra. Why suddenly decide to make yet a class they have to pay for or unlock? FvS are hard enough to unlock by favor crunching.. Not that it's impossible but it takes time..

I would say you should unlock the artificers without VIP's having to pay extra.. I mean - that is what they are paying for right?
