Default S&B fighter/paladin concept build, thought?

I have been pleased to see the direction DDO is going with regards to help S&B characters be more viable in the role they were created to fill. Seeing a guy in PJ's tanking just isn't right in my book. It makes much more sense to me that a tank should be surrounded by metal and do less damage as a trade off. On DDO, there was no trade off....swing with 2 weapons, wear PJ's and have a ton of HP's which made a traditional tank useless. Not trying to offend, but that just isn't too realistic to me. Maybe I'm just a traditional kinda player.

Anyway, I just threw this together real quick while at work and haven't spent a ton of time on it. I was hoping that the experts could look at this and give insight and even possible finished #'s, suggested equip to get to those #'s, etc....

I have rolled several S&B AC type toons and have a fair amount of knowledge with them. However, I am far from an expert and I don't build things that are planned out to the extreme. For example, I don't usally put +3 tomes in my planners even though it is much easier to get them now. I also don't plan a build with 5 greensteel items, or several non-pirate epic items. Mostly, I have a goal/plan in mind, but don't want to grind a million raids or have to in order to be perfect. I do plan around several items I have or feel confident I can get without endless, mindnumbing repetition. I have in mind the following: epic plate and shield from cove, one min2 greensteel and at least 1 greensteel item, but no more than 2, and well known raid items and possibly TOD sets. Oh well, enough rambling, here it is. Please give helpful advice and the thoughts behind them. Please understand this is the basic concept I want, so no....I don't want monk splashes, robes or TWF.

Why split your levels between Fighter and Paladin? With the new upcoming changes you will probably be better going at least 18 levels of Fighter or Paladin. You are giving up strength, con, AC and an additional 5% hit points. Also, I wouldn't go with 1 level of Ranger. I'm not sure how much that's getting you.

18/1/1 Fighter Rogue Ranger would get you SD3, Hamstring (omg awesome for Horoth) and FE bonus vs 1 type.
    Full UMD ranks.

I am guessing you went 1 ranger for the sprint boost and FE bonus? 11 sprint boosts is awesome.

I have that split on my Kensai and I absolutely love it.

EDIT: Dwarf will get you Dwarven Axe prof. for glancing blows in SnB mode, more hp and more ac/more ap with Dwarven Armour Mastery. Better saves vs spells too.

That certainly could work. I chose the pali lvls for the HoD1, saves, LoH's, ac aura and the smites. I guess I'll need to study more before I am completely sold on the trade offs, but I think it would work. I would still have SD2, so is losing SD3 for HoD1 and pali abilities worth it? I just gotta spend some time on it. I did take the 1 ranger for the boost and the Favored Enemy. One more lvl of ftr or pali didn't really do anything for me, so I thought it was a good addition. I chose the 1/2 elf because I like being able to heal myself throughout it's life and use wands to cure stuff instead of pots. Obviously, it helps more in the beginning, but once I cap...I usually don't play them at lvl 20 much. I have more fun climbing the ranks than grinding the same 4 quests a million times. Dwarf certainly gives free feat and other small perks that are useful for any S&B guy, but feats really aren't in short supply on this build and I like living if things hit the fan. I have a 15 1/2 elf tank now that has saved party wipes many times just because he was 1/2 elf. Still, it is a good suggestion and worth some thought. I also Like WF's for their immunities. Very useful for tanks.
