Evasion should be reserved for NPCs with obvious class levels in classes that grant evasion or of a race that is superhuman in its agility. Quickfoot wizards are slightly understandable, they probably have a few rogue levels. Wildmen are less so, though I guess by some strange interpretation they might be counted as rangers. However, there is no explanation for the LoB getting evasion beyond "we wanted him to be really, really tough." A nice thought, except that most anyone is going to use against him is DoT spells.

Please, please stop giving evasion to mobs for "balancing" purposes. It doesn't work very well a lot of the time, and detracts heavily from the feel of the quest - a good rule for the DM is that if you can't find an excuse without the word/prefix "meta" in it, then you should probably rethink the mechanic. When I get to the Lord of Blades, cast something, and see "evaded" pop up, I'm not going to think "yeah, that makes sense" I'm going to think "This is a big-ass robot that I just hit in the chest with a bolt of lightning. How the hell did he dodge that?"
The reason is because they came out with a new class that can do in excess of 800 point blade barriers?
if he didnt have evasion a team of 6 well trainned and highly skilled undergeared artificers could take him out easily (as long as they all had a umd of 44+ and carried resurection scrolls rather then raise dead)

They wanted to make these quests stupidly challenging .. and to tell you the truth my experience with lord of the blades on lama in a pretty high end party with three healers .. and it was pretty challenging on normal (wiped twice but that was because of a targeting bug even with the targeting bug we almost beat him the second time)

Anyway, since the dots are all arcanes use against bosses anymore -anyway-, it is disappointing to see that uniformity almost encouraged by this.

Giving the Mantle ability like Horoth/Suulo have, and giving evasion like for LoB, deals pretty hefty blows to SLA's and to traditional mage spells. Instead, they encourage the surefire damage of DoT's like Niac's, Eladar's, and Burning Blood, which are already better damage TO BEGIN WITH.

It seems like the stuff requiring a save should be better damage against a boss, but the way DoTs work now, they don't even compare in the long run.

DoTs should get a reflex save, and the design philosophy regarding raid bosses and their relationships to spellcasters needs a revisiting, for sure.
dots are practically useless against the lord of blades ... the best and most effective thing i have seen used against him in the runs i have done has been icestorm ... sorc kited him with ice storm while we recovered from a near wipe (then when last wave of troops spawned we got targeting bug and couldnt attack them and wiped anyway) he practically soloed the lord for a good 5-10 mins

Who knows, maybe they will when "epic" levels come out.
I call BS there ... the only reason we are anything OP compared to PnP is becasue of gear ... because Turbine has never been able to balance there gear creations with the needs of the players vs the difficulty of the content vs the level range.

they have never properly adjusted min levels on some raid and bound gear that sucks at its level (TOR loot should be lvl 12 not 14, IQ loot should be 14-16 not 18 and i am sure there are more examples)

giving a god godly powers makes more sense then claiming we are OP cause that is BS

    lol

Have you ever played PnP? How can you say that with a straight face?

If you were to strip a level 20 DDO toon naked, and just transfer his Stats, Abilities, Enhancements, etc to PnP it would be WAY beyond the power level of an equivalent PnP toon.

Enhancements made our characters broken, tomes made them more broken and should have been "ULTRA" rare, GS weapons/items are equal in power to "Artifacts" in PnP and therefore should be Min level 20 at least. etc..

There is so much overpowered **** in DDO that if "I" were to take the time to "balance" DDO game and bring it all in check you would see nothing but 4+ updates of nerfs.

Granted when I was done I think the game would once again be challenging, and probably a lot more fun.

Too late, we've been living the dream since 2006.

Hey, if you want to play an MORPG alone, buy the home version.
