    Default Need help optimizing kensei fighter.

    I need help to optimize my Kensei Fighter, which is still in the planning stage. Mostly I'm looking to optimize the enhancements.

    Stats:
    Why 10 dex? Does it really do much for you?
    Cha 12? Intimidate isn't quite as useful as it used to be. Is it really necessary to put stat points into this?

    I'd personally go with either 16 con and 8 dex, or 8 dex and 8 cha and 18 str. But it's not too be of a deal, really.

    Feats:
    You have a lot of save type feats. These aren't all that great, IMO. I'd much rather go with extra toughnesses, especially since you seem to be planning on tanking stuff. You really want high hp for that - 600+ at minimum, 700+ is better for end raids.
    Improved sunder might be more useful in U11, so that's OK I guess.
    Diehard is very bad. Toughness is much better.
    You take a lot of intimidate feats. But will your intimidate be good enough for endgame raids?

    Quick draw is nice. It lessens delay after activation on boosts.

    Enhancements:
    Armored agility? It gives a little bonus to jump and balance, but is really not great at all.
    Extra dragonmark use? The activated abilities from the sentinel feats aren't great at all.
    Rank IV of critical accuracy is useless. You'll confirm crits every time anyway, and you don't need more than rank 3 for kensai III.

    You're going to want haste boost. That's where the DPS comes from. Haste IV and some extra uses of boosts so you can keep it up during boss fights.
    DDO: If a problem cannot be solved by the application of DPS, you're not applying enough.

    You have selected Human as your race, but you are not utilizing some of the enhancements that make this a good choice.
    Human Versatility: with the changes coming up to damage, you will want this.
    Racial Toughness: Kudos for selecting Con as your 2nd Human adaptability, which opens up racial toughness 3 and 4. You may as well capitalize on it.

    You are speccing into Kensei Greatsword, I wonder if half orc may suit your play style a bit more.

    I agree with ditching the resistance feats.. there are some much more juicy ones.

    Lastly, I am a big fan of shield mastery... Sometimes the cleric just can't keep up.

    The Dragonmarks only really make sense for use with the Epic Chimera's Fang that is being buffed in update 11. If you are going to stick with proper THF, they're really just a very expensive way to increase your Intimidate after the Least. Skill Focus Intimidate makes more sense.

    Haste Boost is the best fighter DPS enhancement after Kensei.

    Diehard is always worse than another Toughness once you get to level 9. Compare:

    Level 9 character with Diehard and X health gets hit for X damage - 0 HP, incapacitated. If left alone, will stabilize.
    Level 9 character with another Toughness and X + 11 health gets hit for X damage - 11 HP, can use potion, run away, fight, etc.

    Diehard character gets hit for X + 10 damage - -10 HP, dead.
    Another Toughness character gets hit for X + 10 damage - 1 HP, can use potion, run away, fight, etc.

    I'm not exactly sure where I'm supposed to stick another toughness feat into the build. Despite all the special feats I'm getting with fighter, most of those go towards the kensei prestige enhancement line, and toughness isn't counted under one of those feats that qualify for the special feat slot. Here is an updated version of the build. I try to get a better rythme for the enhancements and feats.

    There are no feats at level 6.

    Luck of Heroes is still a bad feat. Power critical is even worse.

    Haste boost should taken to rank IV. Human versatility is, as mentioned, going to be better in U11, so that would be good at higher ranks, too.

    Armor mastery is kind of a waste. Your AC is likely not going to be high enough to do any good anyway, and in any case you have low base dex.
    DDO: If a problem cannot be solved by the application of DPS, you're not applying enough.

    I wouldn't spend build points on charisma at all, allowing you a bit more flexibility to increase str or con a little. Too, I'd not spend any skill points on swim. You might be able to lower the int also, as IMO the only skills that appear useful to your build are intim, balance, and jump. So that would save another 2 build points (leave int at 10, get 3 skill points/level) that, again, could be put into the fighter's core stats of str, con and to a lesser degree dex.

    The idea here is strong THF line for supplimenting Bastard Sword & Board when Defense is key . .also why Shield Mastery (too good to pass on). With all of the + to hit provided by Kensei path I shouldn't need Exotic Wep Prof BSword . . should I? If so, what feat should be replaced?

    Tons of HP to make up for lacking AC; as it is a DPS build.

    I'm not familiar with endgame gear so I modeled around Mithral Full Plate and Mithral Tower Shield. Taking Fighter Armor Mastery I enhancement evens out the Max Dex bonus between them to 4. (from what I gather)

    With improvements to Cleave and Grt. Cleave I have a hard time not taking both. Aside from downing most caster mobs that much quicker (which are deadliest IMO) the cleaves seem to hit very effectively . . . . in most situations.

    7 uses per rest of Power Surge and Fighter Haste IV, and a +3 Human Versatility (would have liked more) should supply some good damage with Quick Draw reducing the lag after boosting.

    I'm not very happy with the saves . . . but I'm coming from playing a Paladin so . . .

    Bastard swords do not generate glances unless you are using a shield and proficient with them. I would drop Luck of Heroes.

    Actually there is no requirement for a shield. Single wield glances just fine (as will sword & Rune Arm come U11)
