Default 10 levels of crafting from Arti feats?

Trying to avoid flame wars, lol. But the crux seems to be 20 crafting levels, and i thought Arti only got 10? Yes, you can take dragonmarks for another 10, but don't need to be arti for that (tho if it's a craftbot, you would of course. Just sayin don't pin that whole 20 on Arti). And of course you have to level all the way up to 20, and either swap out 3 feats near cap, or be three feats down while leveling. Takes a certain amount of effort.

Also, since those arti feats and dragonmarks lower crafting xp on the way up, you either pay more resourcewise, or level crafting at 1, then level the character.

I do see both sides of course, and those who in good faith crafted on their mains might have reason to be annoyed.

I'm going to join /signed for a TP solution to this.

There's no reason to receive any compensation because a new class, specialized in crafting has bonuses you don't have. This was pretty obvious since the introduction of Cannith crafting that artificers would make their way to DDO for anyone who knows just a little the Eberron's background. They wouldn't have called it *Cannith* crafting otherwise.

Then, old crafters don't loose anything (they will even gain some levels from the rework of the xp curve), they just don't have the bonus of artificers (which, again, are specialized in crafting).
When the game changes and advantages some classes because of the introduction of new systems, do ppl ask for a compensation for their fighter because now barbarians can spam their supreme cleave?
For your own characters, you don't even need to go over level 100.

Now, asking if it's more optimal to reroll an artificer or to continue to increase crafting on the original character, the level at which it becomes better to continue (based on the old xp, so it would require some adjustments for the new curve) is level 108. At this level and lower, it requires less ressources to go from 0 to 130 with a dragonmarked artificer than to go from 108 to 150 with your character.

There are also other options. The most obvious is to TR into a dragonmarked artificer when you're at level 130 (or a bit before to take profit of the reset of the # of shards created), do what you want to do, then go back to your current build. It wouldn't even take so much time with the new bravery xp bonus.

What would be more costly: keeping my character at level X, leveling from X to 100 (X being the optimal TR point from me) or leveling from 1-80 with the new Artificer?

Again? They are lowering the exp for crafting levels, so all players will suddenly get a 'boost' of levels when arty is released. Problem solved.

The reply is X=63. At level 63 and below, it will cost you more ressources to level to 100 than raising a dragonmarked artificer from 0 to 80. This is with the old xp curve, I can't tell for the new one.

It't actually more complex than that: the XP/Essence (or XP/Plat or whateber) drops steeply at higher levels last time I looked, so while the strict cutoff based on XP might be 63 (for a target level of 100), the actual level might be nearer 75.

Of course, if your target is 150, the cutoff may be nearer 110...but I have not done the numbers since U10.2.

I think this is the answer that the Quartermaster types are hoping many players choose.

    A new question has arisen.

If you don't want to/can't whatever, pay for aritifcer upon release of U11, will you halt your non-artificer crafting toon to wait for the free favor unlock in U12 (supposedly by the end of the year).

    I'm geniunely curious.

I leveled one with the marks of making and they were actually very handy during leveling to keep myself and my pet alive when my other repairs were on cooldown. It also saved SP in many situations.
