Default DDO client locks with Texture Filtering above Bilinear

Hello, this issue just showed up out of the blue (no BSOD's though) the client just hard locked on me with the "fuzzy white" pixilated distortion. I have to reboot the computer every time to get it back up. After doing some troubleshooting, I brough everything down to low settings and bringing it up one at a time, I discovered that the lock occures when texture filtering is set to something higher than Bilinear. I was "Very Sharp" forever and then this happens. I've moved the other settings back to where they were, half of them are on very high with no real issues.

[Edit] now I'm seeing that overbring bloom filter and glow mapping have to be turned off as well for stability. This is some new problem.

    - I uninstalled the client, redownloaded and reinstalled the client.
    - Uninstalled and reinstalled the video driver, 181.22_geforce_winxp_32bit_english_whql.exe (GeForce 8800GT 512)
    - Tried some tweakes with the NVidia control panel, no go.

Something is wrong and I want to get it back to where it was because Bilinear is kinda choppy. I appreciate the help in advance.

    Hi Jerevon,

If nothing has changed on your system and this repeatedly happens when set to use average texture settings your graphics card could be on it's way out.

Your display driver is quite out of date so try the below to see if that makes any difference however:

    http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/winxp...driver-uk.html

Please check all the fans in your system are operating and monitor the temperature in case that is a factor (you don't say if it is immediate or comes up after a while)

Thank you for the reply, I do appreciate this. I should have looked for a better driver, I honestly thought they quit making drivers for this card and 181.22 was the latest.

The driver update appears to keep me stable for long periods of time, as the crash was instant but now running ok; ultimately I think you're right, this card is about done. I put it though hell, with overclocking and bringing it back down to benchmark and what not.
