    Passive Past Life

You were an Artificer in a past life. You occasionally find yourself tinkering with your gear. When you use a rod, staff, or Wand, you have a 5% chance not to expend a charge. Each time you acquire this feat you gain a stacking +1 bonus to the Use Magic Device skill. This feat can be stacked up to three times.

This is from wiki http://ddowiki.com/page/Past_Life_Feats They only have the passive feat though.

So bards, the previous preeminent UMD class, get some measly will save bonuses. Artificers stomp in on the same Wand and Scroll Mastery chart and get UMD for their past life ability.

I'm increasingly thinking that the Artificer class is what I always really wanted out of that caster bard I built.

Yeah. It's really cheesy that bards don't get a UMD skill enhancement like Artificers. (And… anything to equal that capstone.) I can understand why rogues don’t. But bards? On the plus side, they appear to have spread the scroll mastery to rogues.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.
