Thumbs down VIP's Identifying p2p players.

I think that VIP's should be able to identify p2p players. VIP's are your bread and butter customer's, not the other way around! I'm sick and tired of freeloaders asking for adventure packs. They don't know which quests are ftp, and generly lack the gaming skills necassry, for high level adventures. If their not willing or able, to make a commitment, that should be their problem. I know times are tough, but if they can afford internet acses and a computer why can't they pay the 14.99 a month? I do and I only make about $1100.00 a month, plus I live in southern CA. I don't go to the movies and all that other stuff. My entertainment budget is DDO. I pay my bills! Why should I pay theirs? The current system just does not seem fair!

Default Segmenting a population is rarely a good idea

And from one who was here from early '08 (was in beta, but changed all my account info when I came back because....well, couldn't remember the details and had moved without being able to forward email account ) the game was slowly dying without the f2p model.

I have run into VIP players that were as bad or worse than any f2p and also personally know several premium players that have spent/spend as much or more than me every month.

The next step in this evolution would be, don't play if you can't spend 14.99 for a sub and then $50+ a month in the DDO store for XP pots/Mnemonics/etc to be able to run.

Keep track of the folks you have issues with and don't group with them in the future, problem solved.

    /not signed....

VIP, TR, does not guarantee a good player

    F2P, Premium =/= bad player.

Premium players are pay to play players.
We simply pay a different way.

Oh wait I'm ViP again for Elite unlock, and "own the entire game". I could cancel my ViP, and it doesn't change the way I play except for Elite unlock.

That owning the entire game bit, is real important in bringing me back to DDO after playing elsewhere for a bit. I can hop into DDO and still do nearly everything I could do before.

"Free to Play" brought me, and many like me to DDO as well. I liked it enough that I pay for it, and so do many others, or it would not be a success story in gaming that has attracted more companies to try out similar strategies.

I would say those that on and above purchase Turbine Points are Turbine's bread and butter. Never had anyone ask for a guest pack. I'm sure you do not know all quests and there are plenty of VIP players that 'lack gaming skills necassry, for high level adventures'.

I think you are mistakenly getting poor players confused and associated with pay to play players. Which one does not equal the other.

Also you can get VIP for $9.99. You once again are confusing the many ways Turbine has allow players to play with your personal style of play. The beauty of the system is that many people can acheive the same goal via different means.

From VIP, to purchasing TP to acquire content to pure favor/TP farming.

Turbine has created a populated community, and it seems that basic fact 'population' is missed on you. Which those 'freeloaders' give you by making the game more populated.

thanks for identifying yourself as a jerk

Generalize much? I know many veteran p2p players, it does not equal bad skill or not knowing what they have access to or not... though I guess you'd be better off asking them to fix the lfm window to show a non VIP if they own the pack or not as it used to...

btw, p2p = _pay_ to play, maybe you're thinking about f2p = free to play...

I went VIP and my wife went premium. After a year guess which of us has spent more. Hint: it's not me

Edit: btw I bought my daughter three months VIP. Does that make her a great player?

If she is like the daughters of other gamers I have played with, eventually, if not quite yet.

Are you one of the players that puts up a LFM without filling in which quest it is and just write something in the comment box? Many LFM I see are like that. If you fill in which quest it is people will know if they own it or not and do not have to ask if it is f2p. It shows if you need to purchase or is greyed out if not in level range. Does not matter what quest it is, low to high, not everyone knows all the quest names or the abbreviations that are used for them.

In my opinion the quest name should always be filled in for any LFM. It eliminates the guess work for a player looking to join and would probably lessen many "irritating" questions you may recieve.

Btw, you made it a point to let us know how much you earn and where your budget goes. Makes me curious how you keep yourself in "420". lol

Last time I checked, this was unfortunately broken. It used to show "buy now" in the lfm panel if you didn't own the pack, but it isn't true since U9 or so.
Don't shout and call out that new guy joining your group who didn't know he didn't own the quest, because as you said, not everyone knows every quest name in the game, especially not new players who don't own every pack yet.
