or you could just have the players be smarter and tell their pets to be passive.
that might be a problem in VoD or HoX (speaking of, you should probably check if they bork VoD or HoX), but i hear the cannith stuff isn't a major PITA to get to anyways. recall, boot the clueless (did you really want to run the raid with that guy anyways?) and get another person. not like you can't replace an artificer with pretty much any other class in the game and not see a huge difference (unless your entire group was insane enough to believe all those paladin capstone doomsday threads and decide that they should build all their melees with the assumption they will always have an artificer around, but then again... you probably don't want *those* people in your raid either. so it all works out in the end!)
