It's nowhere near as bad as youtube's new ninja ads. playing video ads with SOUND while im watching a video, talk about epic failure. I don't want to hear you shoving your dating site ad down my throat, im just trying to watch a funny video

I just switched to Firefox with the AddBlockerPlus addon because I got tired of all the popup adds on the forum. Fixed the problem for me.

Yeah just switch to using Firefox with NoScript and AdblockPlus addon's. You wont see any ad's with those running.

    This.

You avoid 90% of the bad stuff you don't want to see on the internets.

Yep that's works well. But it makes you wonder, who's the genius that figured making ads more obnoxious was a good idea. Especially with tools available to disable those obnoxious ads.

When the ads weren't as obnoxious I had no problems with them. Then they made them so obnoxious that I had to disable all the ads.

So now I don't get any of the ads. So congrats to the marketing genius who pushes more people to disable the marketing ploy. Well done.

Over a decade ago, I downloaded my first popup blocker due to an 800x600 Netflix popup on a forum I frequented.

Thanks to this, Netflix will never get 1 red cent from me.

firefox, adblock, noscript, stylish, greasemonkey, rip advanced, httpfox, hosts file, ghostery, better privacy, beef taco, trackmenot

these are your weapons against unwated, intrusive, annoying, obnoxious, and harmful marketing practices

ad servers are known vectors for malware, spyware, driveby downloads, rootkit installing exploits -- website maintainers disclaim any responsibility for the contents of the advertising that is shown on their site -- the only solution is to block all 3rd party data requests on all sites

after all, if you wanted to add some computers to your botnet would you host your malicious files on single site where you could potentially draft hundreds of zombies or would you host your content on an ad server that not only hits tens of thousands of potential victims daily but also where the owners will try their damndest to hide the security breach

the only safe way to use the web is to block all ad servers
