Default Oh god, why do I PUG von5-6...WHY!?

    WHY?

Time to rant. So I had not done von5 elite yet and I'm at 14 so I thought I'd join a PUG that was up for it so I get some good exp before I'm too high to run it.

I join, -80%, oh well I knew they were in when I started, hopefully it will be gone when we're done. I do my rogue job, get rid of traps everywhere. Apparently no one was assigned to do voice/ring thing. I keep asking who has them, ring guy speaks up and trades it to me because I offered to do the job since I know how. And now the voice...who has it?...nothing...check your inventories please...nothing...keep asking, finally someone notices our bard had to leave...and recalled out without trading it back to someone...okay, look around the quest for it, locate it near the puzzle.

By then I was pretty much trying to help with instructions because leader wasn't doing anything and he had asked someone with voice earlier to do instructions for group so. I tell them we need more people on the left than right up north...
We need more people left than right...we just need enough for levers right if they can handle golems by themselves...
Okay fine we'll go with 4 left I'll just have to solo the stuff that has to be done there...just a waste of characters since they pretty much just scratch their nuts on the right side until breaker is reset left.

Do the rest with relative ease...traps after first ladder south seem to require a search higher than 41...reminded me I need to get a better search item...get it done with +2 song.

Boss dies, yay 25k exp. On to von6

    **** hits the fan.

I explain how this part works, we stand behind rock, buff, we run all together to first base, fascinate, I say about 5-6 times to NOT HIT THE MOBS cause bards are fascinating.

Get to first base, 3-4 people hitting mobs...tell them to stop on voice chat...nothing...type it in caps in party chat...nothing...start moving to 2nd base, good god they stop hitting and follow, hurray...but there will be respawns only 2 were fascinated and the others died...they would have kept hitting if we stayed there anyway...better than nothing fascinated...

Second base, same thing happens.../sigh. I was assigned there so I stayed...tell the rest to move on and they do...

First and 2nd prepped, I ask if 3rd is ready, nothing at all. Then all of a sudden, 'hit pillars' from someone. 1-2nd dropped....wait....wait...pop back.../sigh. By then fascinate breaks, mobs respawn...oh ****...get stuck against pillars by mephits, tell everyone to just keep dropping them, manage to re-drop mine 2x before I go unconscious cause I couldn't get out of the way. Same thing happens on first base, guy got stuck against pillars by the flensers and dies (I do not blame him, pretty much a death penalty for anyone when that happens and you're alone at that level.)

By then one TR caster tries to come help and grabs stones on bases, we tell everyone to just go back to the entrance and regroup to try again...we manage to get there...except the leader of the group...who is, for whatever reason, running around on bridges (not going back to entrance...just...running on them) and they end up breaking.

    /recall /drop

Out of all your magnificient senses, you have two which are, hearing and sight. IS IT SO **** HARD TO USE THEM? SERIOUSLY? I was giving instructions the whole time on voice and in chat. Anyone that knows me knows I barely every say anything on voice chat, so that means I was really REALLY willing to help the group out by explaining how the quest worked. But apparently these senses are super powers and no one can listen to instructions, it's way too hard.
"I can't hear you well my music is too loud" Seriously, someone said that.

/rant off, I probably won't PUG for the next 2 weeks...ugh...was hoping to get some raid loot out of there...useful items for TRs.

I must have jumped in after you did, as most was already done. The funniest part of the VON 5 was seeing the cleric drop, 5 minutes prior to completing the quest. I must have missed some hella magic moments before I hit the LFM.

Sorry bud, I was the FvS on 1st base last night.

I honestly don't know how many times you said and typed to leave the mobs alone, plain and friggin simple instruction.

Seeing 3 people alone die on 1st base while the poor Bard was trying to fascinate them gave me shudders, but I was hoping we could pull it out.

Alas, several from that run made my "friends" list.

This really isn't Rocket Science people......listen to instructions. If you cannot understand, do not have voice or are an ESL, then please type or find someone to translate for you. If you are new to a Quest/Raid, please for the love of squishy drow casters, do not just "go at it on your own and hope for the best".

Suffice it to say, fail PUG is still fail.

BTW, +1 for the pain and suffering.

Ive only ever ran VoN5 twice, both on my TR Bard.

Both times I just followed the Star holder and cast buffs and heals on those around me so I could be at least a bit useful

I still have not much idea of what was happening as noone really spoke up, but one thing I did notice was many many people just seemed to be doing nothing.

Please see this part of my post:

Several were indeed ESL, they could not understand the spoken instructions, but understood when the instructions were typed just fine.

It seemed the same people who repeatedly died in the traps in the Inferno Room in VON5 were the ones who would do nothing but hit the Mephits/Reavers on the bases. They were speaking or typing in English, so I can only assume that they understood the language.

Let this be a lesson to you: When you find such wonderful people, stop healing them, grab the stones and find a deep lava pit

Devs: Thanks for making Druids available to VIPs without the pack. This more than anything, has made me want to buy the pack.

    Aga,

I swear to God I have never seen people die as fast as these people were dying. They were up in the spinney/spike traps and just kept *dinging*. Poor Dist kept trying to spot the trap boxes and these dewsh-canoes would take the Rez right on the trap and ding-out again and again.

Since I hadn't used the shrine yet, I kept rezzing them to see how often they would die.

It became a sort of sick game to play.

    Holy Cow!! You finished VoN5?

When I PUG that raid at level, it seems like we do just fine until we hit the end fight, then everything falls apart.

If I PUGged VoN and we failed VoN6, I'd count that as a success.

I have located the source of your issue. You are a masochist.

    Sounds like the typical PUG-gone-wild.

I note the name(s) of the char(s) involved so I won't PUG with them a second time.
Once upon a time, I was part of a team, and we saved some children. That was long ago and far away, and, yes, I am that old.

While it is a little more difficult-I typically just short man that raid with a few friends vs. PUG-its just not worth it for the time you invest.

VON can become a Goat Rodeo when you have a majority of your party who are not familiar with the quest.

first thing I saw wrong here was you @14
the 2nd was why did you not solo 3rd base my rogue can/has on Elite @lvl10 which means no GS even on a TR.

pro tip you want an AA and a rogue in you party for Von 5/6 elite @lvl AA can solo 1st from pitchers mound Rogue can solo 3rd like 3 people can go to second and as long as you communicate prep'd and the pillar beaters have ears and 1 non pillar beater has voice to call kill you will be fine.

I for one as a rogue in Von 5 get primary locks and puzzle then move to trap hall. only need to go across the left hall with 3 or 4 (includes rog/wiz w/ring & voice (said ranger in part can solo open door from right side to let left side in)

I can drop down hit switch and kill constructs solo like and DDoor out.

The OP solo'd 2nd base as only he and I seemed to have the ability or stepped forward when asked if "anyone could solo a base".

Other than the 2 of us, it was just crickets. Sadly, this was the first VON 6 run I'd managed to squeeze in on my FvS, so I totally forgot to put on my DoD, which would have made a huge difference when I got trapped on 1st base.

Never too old to learn a lesson the hard way I guess.

    Khyber for the Win

Our most recent E Von 6 PUG fubar.

PL tells party repeatedly that we are going left to right. (Ice to Fire)

Assigns the bases. Goes through the strategy..dont hit fascinated mobs etc etc

Everyone confirms they understand and are ready and off we go to the crossroads

6 go left, 4 go right and 2 go straight on????

    You gotta laugh really

Did you do VON6 on elite?

You gotta know your party's limitations... Hey you finished VON5 elite (which is the most important part for the exp)....

After being with that group and recognizing that 50% of them don't know what is going on, you should have jumped into VON6 on normal.

Hindsight being 20/20, that would have made sense. We did hit elite, would have been nice House K flavor to boot.

Oh well, off to find another rediculous PUG tonight I guess.
