    Talking New Interesting Artificer Builds

    Now that we've had Artificers a couple days I know some of you out there have been studying the enhancements and feats, spells etc. and many have capped their first Artificer incarnations and have seen what they are at least for now capable of. So what I'm asking is to see what interesting builds people are thinking of developing. So far Ive only seen people talking about basically 2 diff builds.

    1. L20 Artificer (possibly w/ splash of evasion class) - Mostly caster, with some repeater pewpew to fill in the gaps.

    2. Varied mix of Rogue(mechanic)/Artificer - Focusing more on the repeater aspects, Int damage bonuses etc.

    OK so we've heard those before. I'm interested in hearing peoples ideas on differerent builds like a melee heavy build (think WF STR build FvS) throwing down in the middle of a Blade Barrier and Flame Turret with excellent self heals, force field, stone skin etc.,

    Or an all ranged all the time Arcane Archer build H/elf using a heavy repeater in between multishot cooldowns (I know AA doesn't work on Xbows but I believe it would still out DPS a bow while MS is on timer and with the endless fusilage could be very nice).

    Anyways seems like there are SO many possibilities that haven't been fully explored yet Im excited to see what people come up with

    Me I'm thinking about a melee artificer, but I haven't played it yet and dont know if some of my ideas would work.

    Personally was thinking 12/6/2 art/fight/evasion or 14/6 art fight, not sure though if I have a rune arm on if I can get benefits from glancing blows and THF feats when using a bastard sword, I would imagine not, if you could I would likely have built it for swinging an epic chimeras fang. Would have been fun.

    But yeah I would try and fit some sorta melee artificer into my stable of toons if its at all possible and decent.

    I'd think 6Arty/12Fight/2Monk or Rogue would work better as Elf and HE could qualify as arcane archer without having ranger levels and the character would have evasion and kensei II.

    If Mechanic I and Insightful Damage continue not stacking:

    Battle Engineer I / Mechanic I / Deepwood Sniper I

    Artificer 7 / Rogue 7 / Ranger 6

    17 Dex, Max Int, Rest Con

    Human for stacking Fusillade and Damage Boost.

    Some sort of artificer/bard combination might be interesting for traps/buffs, not sure how effective it would be though.

    I'm wondering about WF with the full THF line and bastard sword proficiency. I think it could be interesting to stack up the on-hit effects and see the effect that it has on glancing blows.

    So maybe through level 6 have the feats PA, THF, and Exotic Weapon Prof with the level 4 arty feat Augment Summons. 9 could be iTHF, 12 iCrit, 15 gTHF, and 18 Toughness. Then fill in your casting feats at 8,12,16,20. Dump-stat dex since we're not focusing on ranged anymore. Maybe 16str, 16con, 18int+levels. Still fully functional as a caster (maxed out int, 4 meta's...probably heighten/max/emp + 1 other, etc) but decent as a melee as well. Longer lasting divine power scrolls/clickies. Solid str (be about 24-26 before buffs) for a non-melee. Can sub in int score for to-hit in epics when needed or sub it in for damage instead when to-hit isn't a big issue. Self-healing from blue-bar if desired.

    Just toying with this idea right now. Repeater twitching is great dps right now which makes this build questionable but if that gets fixed it's a whole new ballgame.

    My other thought is to do all the same, only human. 2 more feats effectively if using the epic chimera's fang (1 for human and 1 for not needing bastard sword feat) so we can fit in the DM's of making if we only go w/ the 3 meta's I named. If you're willing to drop heighten you could even fit in the feat to allow you to be reconstructed. I think on the human with the fang I'd want to go something along the lines of 18str+levels, 16con, 14int. Play it almost like a pure warchanter bard might play. This also gives you the option of having the rune arm + bastard sword or having a real two hander.

    I'll try to remember to come back and let you know as I'm rolling one of these tonight to test it out.

    well... 6 A's prestige gives ANY weapon you weild a +2 enhancement bonus and a couple nice "spells" as well as rune arm access, could lead to some interesting builds, maybe 12 bard Warchanter/6 Arti Battle Engineer/ 2 Rogue or monk or potentially Paladin wielding a 2h...

    I hope Battle Engineer will be more fleshed out and not just t-1 by the time of release, could replace sorc/wiz in melee caster builds, would have to carry less dp clickies/scrolls as they wouldnt use up as often, can also go helf or something instead of wf due to that construct essence feat...

    On a warforged that while the meta's are still broken I can see this. I wonder though what we're really getting out of the maxed out int here. Is there enough attack spells and enhancements here to make the int worthwhile?

    I was thinking that with a melee WF similar build I would start with no higher then probs a 12 INT keeping the spells focused on self healing, Blade Barriers and Flame Turrets (and at end game the reflex saves get really high on the evasion mobs so its really an all or nothing focus) allowing you to put more into STR and CON, and with Torq, Conc Opp's, Mysterious Baubles etc mana shouldnt ever be an issue. One nice thing would be at L20 if you manage to get an Epic Chimeras Fang you could then drop the Bastard Sword Feat for possibily another toughness? Can never have to many HP i reckon. Also not sure if mithril body would really add anything seeing as you would have Stone Skin so could potentially save 2 feats from changing out Mithril Body and Mithril Fluidity maybe changing them for Maximise and Empower for your AOE's?

    I need to see how it would work out, but possibly a Dwarf 12/6/2 Art/Fighter/Monk - It's a deep mutli-class that have a good amount of cross class skills, but... Maybe? Possibly change it to a WF as well for more self healing.

    Could just be plain stupid though. LOL

    Assuming the glancing blows still work for bastard swords Warforged gives you more glancing blow damage. I really like that seeing as how we can add more damage with artificer to glance around.

    As for your warchanter/arty I'd just go 14/6. Your songs get better at 14. Not sure what we add w/ 6 arty over 6 fighter, 4 rog/2 fig, pure, etc though.

    only humans can get the dragonmark required for that to happen

    i made a bastard sword build. so far its not all that great but i think it could be pretty good if i could get some decent gear.

    6 Artificer (Battle Engineer I and access to Insightful Damage) / 13 Rogue - Mechanic II / 1 other (your choice) could be interesting.

    Fusillade + 6d6 sneak damage, not counting insightful damage, and any other bonuses.

    I considered the 12 Bard Warchanter seeing as its only 3 shy iirc of the full damage song, and Fascinate is always a welcome addition to a party.
