So there I was, taking a walk on my own around the park (Orchard of the Macabre) and I come across that poor homeless hobo Tahareh. Poor he may be, but he's bringing down the tone of the whole neighbourhood. He's also got a treasure chest (that I want) and a bad attitude (that I don't), so we have words.
Now, I'm only a 12th level cleric and I can't call for backup but when it turns ugly I pile in, all falchions blazing. It turns out he has plenty of backup to call in and more than once I have to back right off and clean up his wraith and shadow goons (and restore HP, levels and con) before starting over (he's taken the opportunity to reset to full health too).
Finally it comes down to the wire and we're pretty evenly matched. He's out of health and so am I. I get lucky and drop him when I'm on my last 2 HP!
Trouble is, he was TKing me and I drop too; for 3 point of damage - incapacitated! all alone and just a few rolls from joining him in the afterlife. So he got lucky too, that's neat.
But I've always been lucky and I stabilise first roll.
They don't get much closer than that!
