I know of Wizards with over 600 HP as a fleshy (I have 637HP as a WF Wizard, so 597 isn't unreasonable). How would getting another 40 HP be considered "gimped on hp"?

It certainly is implied that it will the ability will be upgraded in the future but it's also been implied that will get etor and dwarven defender PrE so I wouldn't hold my breath!

I'd definitely agree that the only decent use for the feat as it stands is on a crafting toon human with full dragonmark of making and then it's about trying to get some in quest utility from the dragonmarks.

Ranged and/or melee?

I can't wait for the cyber punk artificer PrE which has this feat as a prereq

Actually, this could open the door for Acolyte of the skin pre for sorcerers. I would like to be a half demon, and not just because replacing bits of my skin with that of a demon would be freaking hardcore xD

I'd say more like Robocop, the terminators don't actually need the organic bits to do anything but be camouflage.
