Wouldn't a spanish or French server make way more sense? Most Germans I know speak English better than me (a native speaker), but the Frenchies and Spaniards are a bit lower on the scale of English expertise. Not a big issue, but to me it would have made way more sense. Also, not giving their accounts free transfers is really setting it up for failure.

Maybe they should call it the, "I enjoy soloing all content" server.

There is no spain client, so spain server would be impossible I think.

I hear everyone on the new server gets a car.

Wait... that was a different ad campaign from a while back.

If this is the reasoning, then where are the Chinese and Norwegian servers?

I don't think that many Germans will leave Ghallanda.
If they opened the new server back when our characters were transfered to the New World, well, it might have been different.
But now many uf us made friends with other nations and personally I don't see why I should leave them to play the same game at the same time on a different server.
Now, with the community we are part of, and with our guild levels in the 50's or above, I don't see much of a reason to leave Ghallanda.
Plus: I like the multi-cultural flair here. ^^

Huh? Oh eh, sorry! *buffs haste*

Before you complain you should go to that server and tell us how many high lvl players there are.

Last time I checked there was none: all lvl 1-5. So all new players, no transfers.

Theres a huge, and i mean, huge market for german speaking players in Germany and german speaking countries around Germany that will most likely fill up the new server fast.

Success of the new server will rely mostly but not only on a good marketing campaign and decent payment options like game paid cards, a potential that was not explored when the game was launched in Europe under Codemasters banner.

either way, best of luck to the new server.

I as a German ddo player from Thelanis wont switch my mains to Wayfinder. I think most mid- and longterm German players wont. Several reasons:

-as premium player, I can only transfer one char for free. I have two chars that I wouldnt want to lose, and better things to do with my TP.
-there are no guarantees for a high server population yet, so I dont know if there will be enough endgame pugs for my high lvl chars. Nothing worse that doing a server transfer (maybe even spending TP) and end up on a dead server where you cant even fill a shroud.
-my English isnt perfect, but not a real communication barrier. I use the english client since the german one was awkward when it went online.

I do have a favor farmer char on Wayfinder, and I intend to level him up slowly to test the waters now and then. If Wayfinder is a total success, I might reconsider about transferring my chars, but I certainly wont do it now.

It doesn't matter in my opinion.

People will play wherever they choose and speak however they are comfortable. Would I go to a brand new server? Not unless I took my entire guild.

Hell, I play with all sorts of folks around the world..in guild or not...and some English speaking folks...can barely get their point across at times.

I've played with Deaf folks and while that was a challenge considering I rarely type in game nowadays... it was not a big deal. Whatever language or the absence of one... DDO players anywhere and everywhere will find a way to play.

^^ This, and the fact that his English is just fine (not perfect obviously). Most of the German players I know all type good/excellent English and most speak ok/good. Coupled with my poor speaking and writing of German (though technically proficient), I can chill just fine with them.

There is a new server? Wow.

I just created a character on Wayfinder to play with my German bretheren and what do I see in the LFM window?
Exactly, only LFMs with English comments in them (full chain, harbor runs, WATERWORKS FOR EXP). That seems weird to me.

There are some german players on Wayfinder.
Being a german player myself, and being aware of the fact that the server is not german-exclusive, I usually use english language for the LFMs, in particular for standing names and abbrevations. Something to indicate that I speak german, too, would help, anyway.

The first person who joined my German-comment-LFM greeted me in nice American English.

How can I develop "Serverstolz" when there's no difference to the other servers!?

    I'm going back to Ghallanda.
