Make helves less fuggly

So I posted a an helf build with what I would consider to be a pretty creative name . . . it get edited out because apparently making fun of certain half-elf "features" isn't politically correct.

So if you don't want us to make fun of the way helves look, why most them look so . . . <thinks of what I can say that won't get me another infraction> . . . um . . . fug it, I can't but you know what I'm talking about.

Give us an option besides /showhelmet on.

To make things worse - the head/body proportions are way off, their heads are tiny!

Come on Turbine - they're going to be a great race in U11 but people are buying them because of the way they look, you're losing $$$ here.

Also - think of all the Lesser Hearts you're going to sell to the rest of us so we can go back to the character creation screen and change our looks.

I think they look fine as they are. In fact, if you do actual tweaking, they look quite good.

Back when the 4th edition books were coming out, I had an online discussion about how bad the art was in those books.

I saved this picture from those books. Perhaps the half-elf inspiration was drawn from this picture.

My main is a human cleric, everytime I log in on her I see that I picked the wrong nose... and this bugs me. I cannot imagine the irritation seeing a halelf on the login screen would cause me on a main character.

I realize this is just me and simultaneously just a pet peeve but still.... halfelves look like they're wearing those see-thru plastic masks that distort all facial features at once.

This is a P2P race, there really is no excuse for their graphics.

At least some of the people who play them have a sense of humor... I see alot of halfelves with names that are variations or various spellings on Fugly, Hideous, Crueljoke, Uglystick/tree/etc.

Its sad really because just before the halfblood package came out I was really looking forward to playing a halfelf and jokingly told my hubby I would probably never play a halforc because I couldn't be happy playing an unattractive character.... Today I have a cute halforc bard warchanter that I have alot of fun playing. I keep deleting every halelf alt I've tried because I can't stand their creepiness.

Halforc can be far and away better looking than halfelf... what does that say?

It all comes down to player satisfaction or lack thereof.

I first suggested a few graphical tweaks over the Lamannia forum, when they first introduced Helves, last year.
I guess this picture warrants being posted again, given helves still give me the creeps when I try building one.
I'm yet to create one...

As an aside, I truly feel graphical dept did a poor job on helves.
We provided actionable advice.
I've bought them, and I'm yet to create any of them.
I've even created a horc barb - and that's the furthest from my fave race/class as it comes...

I guess it's my pet peeve with DDO; some people lose it when you mention the bugs.
I freak out when I see what they did to helves...

I like the no-save fear effect that even affects Pallies, causing them to run in terror at the sight of the Helves' hideously malformed faces.
