Server population down? Time to combine?

So I know the first reply will be, 'no, there's to much lag as it is' but I remember about a year ago there was a lot more people online, and the lag hasn't declined with the decreased population.

I'm wondering if servers where combined which would Khyber want to combine with?

In the end I know no combination will happen because that means hiring someone to do work so just indulge this fantasy.

I mean remember about a year or two ago there would be 6 shrouds 3 hounds 2 vods a tod (though tod has always been slow for pugs) and about a lot more leveling groups then now days you get 7-10 lfms. I'm just down cause my TR partner left.

I suspect pug groups are declining because guild runs are increasing. It is a natural side effect of the guild/buffs system. Most of the people that are into raiding and high level grouping want the buffs, they joined guilds to get the buffs and then became comfortable running with guildies. I doubt server merges would help much. I certainly haven't noticed a big difference in the number of folks online during peak hours.

also isn't there the seasonal effect in play as people will be away on holidays atm?

I wish the whole thing was centralised and the servers took care of separate locations. ie: 1 for Korthos and the Market, 1 for House K and Crafting, 1 for all raid areas.
Depending on traffic in each area, traffic load could be moved around by the admins.
This would really be nice during events.

All LFMs could be gathered together which would help with setting up a party and getting people together, it would also keep people logged on.
If the LFM's are sparse then I dont feel like playing. When it feels like the servers are empty it can make the servers empty...
All of those details could be worked out by someone that knows all the ins and outs of severs, but I really think it would be the best way to go.

To me it feels a lot like last year when U5/U7(?) hit Lama land and it was holiday time.
If there's still so little going on in a month we might be in trouble, but right now I'm inclined to attribute the lack of LFMs to seasonal effects.

Another point is that last year, The European Refugees ( like me ) were just dumped on Ghallanda ( and other servers as we saw fit ). And a lot of us were busy levelling. That created more LFMs.

1st you need to take in the time of year it is,when the cold weather hits youll be on saying hey Im Lagging

2nd everyones getting ready to go back to school so they have to make a ton of things happen before that drops last trip tp Grandmas house,last min BBQ's & getting school cloths + Supplies ect ect

3rd Lammi which we all know has some new stuff on it & starting today I can see a ton of players missing from live servers due to the new class hitting Lammi today

4th I'll give it to the guilds , there are so many guilds these days than before than Ive ever seen

I had a friend that once said he hated Soap Opreas and would never watch them. Turns out he rearranged his whole lunch break so he could eat at home with his wife {big Soap Oprea fan}. It was funny to catch him on a good day and ask a question like "So what happened on {enter Soap name here} today?" and catch him first begin to answer and then refrain with ears turning red...

Perhaps you're just not on at the right times?
I really do not think a server merge is neccessary at all, especially with Khyber.
If you don't like what you're getting on the Khyber lfm board's then I suggest you just transfer over to a different server that has a high population. Problem solved.

Well shoot, I was just about to comment about how I got "Server is Full" messages this past weekend but now that you said that, I won't bother. I also will not comment about how the number of LFM's does not equal number of players.

And as long as I'm not commenting, I'll also not comment about how things are just fine.

According to the latest news from Turbine, there's no merge in the forseable future... as they just announced a new ( language specific to boot ) server.
