Default I need help remembering a word

Its making me crazy. There is a phrase that officially describes the idea of "selective memory". Basically its the tendency to remember the facts that support your argument or preconceived notion, and forget the things that refute it.

For example, lets say you think your internet is slow. You will tend to remember the times when it lagged or hung and forget the times when it zipped or whipped by.
The problem is never how to get new, innovative thoughts into your mind, but how to get old ones out. Every mind is a building filled with archaic furniture. Clean out a corner of your mind and creativity will instantly fill it.

    Sounds like Confirmation Bias.

But if not, check Wikipedia's list of cognitive biases for some more options.

I think this is it, but you could also be thinking of "selective memory" or "selective amnesia."

I was going to reply 'married', but then remembered that's "selective hearing". My sarcastic replies were covered but in seriousness it does sound like you are looking for "confirmation bias". Another fun slang is "drinking the cool-aid", but that can be inflammatory in the wrong company.

    Confirmation Bias!

I should probably take a semester of Phsyc, but I am afraid it will mess me up even more.

"Honey you have over 30 pairs of shoes you've never even worn"

    "But these are on sale"
