Default Double Positive Maul vs Undead?

I've been running a lot of shrouds on a few characters (accidentally got ransak - doh) so I have a lot of small/med ingredients as I wait for the larges for my barbarian's tier 3 lit II. A pos/pos maul was suggested for the raise dead clicky as well as a skeleton basher. Looking at the description though is not making a lot of sense to me.

Holy - +2d6 damage vs evil (I get this one)
    Good Burst - +1d6 vs non-good, +4d6 on critical
And on the tier 3 if I eventually make it:
    Good Blast - +4d6 on critical, + 4d6 on 20

Undead being immune to criticals, do these on critical effects never go off? Or does immune to criticals mean the weapon damage is not multiplied, but the special effects like good burst can still go off?
If all the damage is +3d6 it looks like a basic disruption or greater undead weapon would be better as a skeleton basher. The raise dead clicky is nice though.

iirc all the extra "splash" damage goes off on a crit, they just dont take the multiplied base damage if theyre immune to crits.

Everyone should have a raise dead clicky. My characters have 2 or 3, they're that awesome.

Re: Tier 3, it's also an extra +6d6 damage on every hit now (& instakill chance?). Most people I've met prefer Healing Amp 30% instead of a Blast though. The critical rate on a maul is very poor.

On a critical hit, extra burst effects are applied even if the base damage isn't doubled. And, like posted, you get Greater Disruption which is +6d6 per hit plus a 3% chance to either kill a mob under 1000 hp instantly or deal 100 damage if over 1000 hp.

In total, it's 1d10 +9d6 on hit, with an extra +8d6 on critical and an extra +4d6 on vorpal strikes. Then you get a 3% chance to perform a vorpal insta-kill or 100 damage.

Immune to crit essentially means the base damage of the weapon + other base mods will not multiply in case of a crit. The effect damage of bursts and blasts still happens.

from testing i think the % went up.

it seems to happen on every nat 20 i roll, which takes it to 5%

the best part about having one of these on a barb is being able to res the cleric that died in part 4 of the shroud, while the Rogue, sorc ect sit on their thumbs looking dumb

Having a raise dead clickie is pretty much required to be a competent player, so having it be a quality skelly beater too is the best way to do it IMO

Especially since Greater Disruption was changed, Triple Positive provides an ridiculous amount of DPS against undead. They are also very cheap to make.

Greater Disruption: This weapon stores a holy and righteous power deep within. When the weapon is used against undead it does an additional 6d6 bane damage and can kill an undead outright on a natural 20, if it is currently below 1000 hitpoints. Undead above 1000 hitpoints instead take 100 bane damage (in addition to the 6d6).

I LOVE tripple positive weapons now. It's a blast using them to destroy mid level undead content.

I had a double pos for ages and if nothing else a raise dead clicky is always a good thing when you cant otherwise raise people and tier3 was meh for all the larges spent, but after U9 with the changes to disruption it was SOO worth the larges to make it tier3 and WOW it is the bane of undead take that bad boy to prince rhaiyum and go to town.

trip pos maul (or 1hander blunt for TWF) is THE weapon to beat on Sor'jek in SOS and The Abbot.

has the advantage of Greater Disruption AND breaking their DR

sry to derail the thread, but to be back on track

double pos is nice, but mostly cause of the rez clickie.

however, triple pos is much better hehe

even though comparably cheap, triple positive weps do still cost large, so if you are sort of low on larges, +4 holy maul of undead bane only requires like 35 divine

I'm also on the triple positive bandwagon. FWIW, I chose to go with falchion because of the bigger crit range. I knew that the undead wouldn't take crit damage but figured that the damage on crit numbers would be occur more often if I went with something with a bigger crit range.

Since I have IC: Slash anyway this means I should proc the on crit numbers 6 of 20 times. My thinking was this increase in on crit procs would overcome damage losses due to DR that I get for using slashing on undead.

Bonus is that it also works on living and other evil and/or non-good mobs.
