    Default DDO Geek Language

    Hi all,

what the hell is the meaning of "proc"?
I cant find a definition on websters and I havnt found a definition in ddo forums or wiki.
But everyone seems to use the word like it is plain english.

Who can explain the meaning of "proc"?

    Thanks in advance,

According to Urban Dictionary, "Proc" stands for "Programmed random occurrence."

Proc = proceeding rate/chance of activation

...so for example a Lit II Greensteel Khopesh has a special effect called Lightning strike which has a 2-3% chance to proc (activate) when you hit a monster and deal 600-650 lightning damage.

    Hope it helped.

It's an abbreviation for "Programmed Random Occurrence" and in game language this loosely translates to 'stuff that happens when you do other stuff', it refers to an action being triggered while doing the appropriate action-triggering action.

'My Earthguard procced' = I was hit by monster x and the stoneskin guard effect from item y was cast on me.
'I got a Lightning Strike proc on Harry' = While I was beating Harry, the Lightning Strike effect from my Lightning II weapon was triggered.

If you are confused now, don't worry, I am too.

Some effects on gear and weapons don't go off every time you hit or get hit (e.g. "guard gear"), but have chances to happen.

"Proc" = said effect goes off.
