    Default AC from equipment?

Never tried a non-Armor type class (armor/shield) so I'm admittedly ignorant of how/what equipment I need to use in order to get the stackable AC bonuses. For example, are there AC bonus robes/outfits, how do they work with bracers, cloaks/rings of protection, natural armor equipment, etc...

Just looking for advice on what equipment I should be looking for that allows me to stack AC bonuses.

    Thanks.

From what I have seen so far....

    1. Armor bonus from robes and bracers. It is labeled as armor in the item description. For instance the Jidz-Tekta bracers are a +5 Armor bonus. A +5 armor from bracers will *not* stack with a +5 armor bonus from a robe, but *will* stack with everything below.
    2. Wis bonus
    3. Dex bonus
    4. Dodge bonus
    5. Protection
    6. Natural (especially in Earth stance)

These all stack on a Monk. There are others as you get up into the higher levels, like exceptional bonuses and profane bonuses, that also stack with these. I know I didn't get them all so I am sure someone else will chime in and finish the list.

Almost no robes/outfits have actual armor bonuses on them. Certain named outfits, such as the Icy Raiment, have Dodge (dodge) and Protection (deflection), although the protection is inferior to certain other sources. For another example, Dragontouched can have dodge, deflection, insight, or natural bonuses to AC.

The rule is that everything with a different name stacks. Insight always stacks with dodge always stacks with deflection always stacks with etc. Within a given bonus, there are two rules. For everything not dodge, only the highest counts, so if you have a Kama of Parrying (+1 insight AC) and a Kama of Greater Parrying (+2 insight AC), you only get +2 insight AC. For dodge, every value that is a) of a different value or b) from a different source will stack. If you have +2 Dodge Goggles from Cannith crafting, the Bracelet of Thaarak (+2), and the Epic Cloak of Night (+2), you only get +2. If you have +1 Dodge Bracers from Cannith crafting, the Haste spell (+1), and the Dodge feat (+1), you get +3.

http://ddowiki.com/page/Armor_Class is the wiki link for AC in general.

http://ddowiki.com/page/Armor_Class_bonuses is for the different types*.

Every different type* stacks with any other different type*.

Dodge is a different type of type*.....ya...others have already explained why.

Yes, but the base AC on a DT armor is indeed a +6 armor bonus, then as you have stated you use runes to upgrade. The DT armor bonus and the Jidz, for instance, do not stack.

Kinerd is correct though, I cant think of a robe that has an armor bonus that isn't a named item or a special item like the DT armor. Your armor bonus, if indeed you need it, will almost always come from your bracers as a monk until you acquire such items as above.
