    Default How much tumble to flip?

    How many levels/points do you need to put into the Tumble skill in order to be able to backflip ?

    As your tumble skill becomes higher, different animations will happen when you hold shift and push a movement key. With a 1 tumble, you roll a somersault in that direction. No further improvement comes until tumble 31, which enables a back flip and sideways dives, which goes further than a somersault in the same time. A 36, a forward dive.

    Note that to achieve such high values of tumble at levels below 14 or so, one generally must use the Tumble spell and Skill Boost enhancements.

    unless you just really want to do flips, having lots of tumble isnt really necessary on a monk. you have slow fall so by level 20, you take no falling damage and abundant step is a pretty sufficient tumble substitute for most situations.

    its not about how many point you invest (to a degree) but how much your total modified score is in the end (there are many items/spells that adjust this not to mention your DEX mod).

    The score for Backflip and Sideways rolls is 31, for a forward roll i think is 36


    1 Minimum 1 rank
    15 Tumble+15 skill item
    4 Greater Heroism
    2 Good luck item
    3 +6 DEX item
    10 Tumble spell/pot
    ----------------------
    35 (modified for Base DEX/armor check)

    You could also add in DT or GS +DEXskills item, house D pots, not to mention another 22 ranks to really go all out!

    EDIT: the DISTANCE you travel via tumble increases but the TIME for the animation remains constant, and there is no cap, meaning a super high tumble score can outdo other striding% items (tho you look a bit weird - like an animal on all fours most of the time)

    Oh. and it also makes FF items unnecessary for most content (ive been blown of the top mount in TS several times without losing HP)

    The simple answer is go dex based put all level ups into dex, put skill ups into jump. Use a GH. Wear a tumble ring. I think it is in the low 30s. back flips come first then the front flip is for really high tumble.

    Why give this explination which has zero bearing towards the OP.

    I would respond to the OP, but it has been answered 31 modified skill to be able to backflip with at least 1 full point spent. I teend to put 10 ranks on my Rogue.

    +10 for "show time" with a thief-acrobat...but I guess he's asking about a monk

    i didnt add in human/helf versatility, or skill boost either for another +5, or +skill AP enhancements, you really CAN to get insane numbers on an acrobat
