Smile Can we avoid the word "Pets" in the class description?

I am asking based on this:

Perhaps something more role-playish? What do the really summon? Creatures? Constructs? Their own mad creations?

All would be better than "Pets"

Doesn't bother me much but couldn't hurt to change it.

Why not just call them Constructs? Or if Iron Defenders are the only pet, then just call them Iron Defenders.

But I don't really mind them being called pets either.

How about Homunculus? Companion? Maybe even Familiar? :P

A couple of them new people who don't know about DnD might not know, but what is the difference between other things in DDO? xD

The "summon pets" terminology is very easy to understand for people that have no idea what is going on.

Using something like "create minions" could still get the point across and fit better with the lore.

You know, I am kind of old school. Maybe it is just me, and DDO needs to stay current with changes in vernacular.

In keeping with that spirit, here are some other changes we should consider just to stay consistent:

The word 'effigy' is used on a few (or 1) construct related PrC in PnP books.

I too would prefer they call it homunculus. They could put (pet) in parenthesis if they are worried about people not knowing what a homunculus is.

i think companion would probably be the best choice because everyone can understand what a companion is without having to know what a homunculus is. even tho homunculus is more appropriate companion will simply let them know they are summoning some one (or something in this case) to help them without calling it the P word. and companion is a common word used in PnP such as rangers animal companion.

This I agree with. "Construct companions" would also work nicely. Homunculus is what they are SUPPOSED to be called, but that might not make sense to people new to the game.

I don't like the idea of "pet". Sounds like a useless slobbering puppy dog following them around.
