Default Artificer Pets in Public Space?

There's one thing that caught my eye with the Artificer trainer. When you ask to train your pet, the trainer will tell you that you must summon your pet before you can train it.

Currently you can't summon any hirelings or pets while you're in town. So, does this mean that Artificers will be able to walk around town with their Iron Defenders? It seems to me that they will be able to.

As cool as it sounds, it seems like more of a lag issue than anything.

except when marketplace is so full of pets that you can't see ground anymore.

okay, not quite but still. If amount of artificers with pets out (and why not, if it's possible and cause no penalties or problems?) in certain area is greater than two.. pets should start building doggy pyramids next to walls to "save space"
Amazing, they actually managed to fix forum account post count and stuff without me bug reporting it!
O.o there is hope out there yet!

Yeah, it probably will lead to more lag.

But I hope it also leads to Rangers getting actual Animal Companions, and Wizards/Sorcs getting Familliars(and then Druids later on getting Animal Companions as well). I like the idea of this tech so far.

It's fine for one class, but please don't go giving out pets to everyone. Not only would you take away something unique, but I don't want DDO to turn into some sort of pokemon...

Pets will always be very limited anyway, because of the dimwitted AI. Let's be honest, over 95% of the current summons are next to useless... not counting those that are actually a nuisance for the party, spitting grease all over the place, attacking crystals that shouldn't be broken, etc.

I don't know often pets are smarter than many REAL players

BUT, I'm not looking forward to MORE pets in the game.... There's too many already...... But whatever.... Not my game

As for pets in public instances... Great ANOTHER lag factor tossed in... Yes, the instance system... That will work I'm sure

Most people don't differentiate between stuttering and lag. They're thinking "oh my fps will be bad if there's tons of pets around" and have no idea it has nothing to do with lag, just their bad PC. :P

It would amuse me greatly to see artificers and their pets end up in different instances:

Imagine the dogs still following their masters in the different instance. it would just look like they were running around by themselves.

Maybe we can shrink the dogs while on the public instance, not sure which spell but there's a few in PnP.
Maybe we can then carry them on shoulder, on pocket, on sleeve, on the backpack.
Or perhaps we can make the dogs float so they hover around behind the masters.
And maybe, if the whole party is in the instance the six dogs can combine and form...
oh nvm, is really nice just to take the pet to a walk.

In all fairness, Wizard got their familliars as well as ranger got their animal companions long before DnD even have a playable class called Artificer

Sure, and gnome race came a lot sooner than warforged as well, but that's not the point. :P

The best CC will no longer be a wizard or an air elemental, for most quests it'll be a mass of rangers with dang trippy cat pets...
Ghallanda - now with fewer alts and more ghostbane

I am extremely disappointed at the lack of K-9 in the above list of pictures.

Edit: I should say something useful when I post. Yes, Artificer pets will be able to be out in public areas.
