Default Help me become a competent healer Sarlona!!!!!

I get told to quit running ahead and trying to kill stuff when I should stay with the party and heal. I have been told to leave a few groups because of that, I thought a group of TRs running a normal monastary would be fine without me babysitting but I was told a hireling would be more useful to them. Then when I tried to stay with the party and heal, we still died because My finger went to the DP, Divine Smite and blade barrier hot button before it went to any healing spells I had. SO what tips would you offer? Should I just put healing spells on my hotbar and run like that for a while?
Or should I just make my guildies suffer of my inability to heal and only do guild runs?

    PS: I have wings
PSS: I spend more mana flying around then healing
PSSS: Should I just reTR into a sorc

You should not TR into Sorc.

Their Wind Dance cooldown is twice as long as wings

Aren't you just supposed to link a stack of healing pots in party chat and tell them to be more self-sufficient?

I hate it when the party tries to tell me how to play.

I had a similar moment in Monastery when the party wanted me to stop killing things and actually disarm the traps. Ugh. I mean, I play a rogue because sneaking up on things is awesome. Anyone with a level of rogue can do traps, right? But who has to come back and pick all the soulstones out of the blades? Me, that's who!

Oh, and on my caster? People are always bugging me for boring stuff like haste. They expect me to use DoTs. But you know, I prefer Tenser's Transformation and a really big greataxe....

I would do the same, in a zerg/byoh group.
I'm thinking that was not what you joined by the sound of it.
Do not impose your playstyle to a group. If you cannot adapt to their requirements, find other groups that suit how you like to play.

You are free to run ahead and kill stuff if you join BYOH/zerg groups.

If the group you joined is not one of those, however, you are filling a healer spot, and your priority should be to keep the rest of the party alive.

Healing spells are a good way to do that, but using offensive casting to kill things faster so that mobs don't do as much damage to the party is fine too. You should still toss heals when people are at half-health or so.
It doesn't take much skill to keep half an eye on the party's red bars and press your heal hotkey when one of them is low.

Maybe you should try to remember how you played before you had access to good offensive spells and wings? Presumably, unless you soloed all the way to level 12 when you got blade barrier, you would have healed people in groups then.

Not the ones that tried killing the white Europeans when all they were doing was coming over here looking for land like it was a big deal. The ones we were fighting in Vietnam.

It takes two to zerg: One to lead and one not to follow. If they aren't getting heals, it's because THEY aren't keeping up with the healer.

Yah, thats what i believe in but I guess I shouldn't impose how I run onto groups but adapt to howthey run

    You fought Indians in Vietnam?

Imagine, all along I'd thought you fought Vietnamese people in Vietnam, but apparently they'd outsourced the fighting to Bangalore. Clever buggers.

If they're having problems staying upright give them a ride in your backpack and res them by the end chest when you've finished soloing

That's true, but if you join a group, you should adapt to the way the leader wants to play (unless he obviously doesn't have a clue). It's his group, his rules after all.

If there was no zerg/BYOH in the LFM, you should stay with the group.

I can understand being impatient with slow players, I get slightly annoyed too when people waste time (overbuffing and not wanting to go first being the primary causes), but I still stay near the leader as long as he seems to know what he's doing.

Sounds like you were doing your job just fine. Not your fault the rest of the party can't stay alive.
LOL and this advice coming from the guy that runs a Great Axe wielding human flavored soul that likes to tank raid bosses.

It's not your healing skills that need improvement, it's your party selection skills

I recommend putting up your own LFMs as a learning exercise. Eventually, mastery of the art of LFM writing will be yours, followed closely by mastery of the art of LFM reading.

Bring the heal spell down to your hotbar that helps alot..you might not let a healing amp tank die anymore
