Default So... Artificers NEED to run Redemption?

Haven't had much time on Lamannia yet as I'm packing, but I certainly didn't see the Thought Spike drop anywhere else.

    Screenie of item in question

Half-Elf Dile-Artificer just didn't work with it yet. (Actually, I'm not even sure what dile-artificer would do at the moment, the description is pretty much meaningless now )

For those interested, this item attempts to equip to the "Off hand", ie the shield slot, the secondary hand, etc.

I guess there won't be a new slot, simply that Artificer's get that slot renamed so it's possible to use it. *shrugs*

I wonder if you can still equip a weapon to that arm as well.

I wonder what the firing rate on that thing is. @L20, it's gonna do 8-26 + 20d6 force... and that's just Korthos noobie ****.

Doubt Artificers will have to run Redemption. Rune arms of various types will probably drop, from named versions to randomly generated.

The force shot is probably something that just comes standard and might change depending on the type of rune arm. Fire damage for example.

Anyway, looks cool. Seems like they're really trying to move Artificers to always use crossbows and rune arms though.

My guess would be no. This would rule out using shields or TWF but you could still melee with a single weapon and blast with the offhand.

I have to wonder if these will work with bows as well as crossbows. Would be interesting to build an AA/Artificer and blast with an arm cannon while waiting for Manyshot to come off cooldown.

Actually you could probably forgo crossbows all together and wand whip with your primary hand. There has been hints that Artificers will have a chance to not use charges when wand whipping.

Only if they want that particular rune arm. There are more scattered throughout the game. They equip to the off-hand, but permit crossbow use.

Seems like they're really trying to move Artificers to always use crossbows and rune arms though.
There was also an interesting build that they came up with that uses a bastard sword or dwarven waraxe, getting the most benefit from the runearm imbue. I liked it enough that it's going to be one of their paths.

That is interesting, so the imbues work on glancing blows. I am guessing from the context that you cannot equip a runearm with a two handed melee weapon.

Can you equip them with normal Bows or just Xbows?

So the extra force damage per hit works on glancing blows? Is it 100% chance like the vicious property on frenzy or normal %chance based on feats?

Go go warforged great weapon aptitude!

Give us more artificer knowledge goodies please, I'm actually getting kinda psyched up about them...

Between the robotic dogs and the arm cannons, I bet there'll be a lot of blue Warforged running around Korthos. Heck, Splinterskull could be like Wily's Castle...

I'm wondering if they work similar to wizard spells. Pick some while leveling, purchase others, some only found on random drops.

rune arms look quite cool. i still wanna know if we can use a wand in each hand though.

i would have so much fun with a little halfling running around shoot meteor swarms from each hand

And i'm wondering if they work in addition to throwing weapons too. Would be fun to build a character based on that topic even if it would not be viable for endgame.

And another question is which prefixes and suffixes you can craft on them. For example if i crafted Pure Good on it would it benefit the Force bolt of the Runearm or the weapon in the main hand or neither?
