Haven't had much time on Lamannia yet as I'm packing, but I certainly didn't see the Thought Spike drop anywhere else.

Thelanis: Yijing (*Completionist* TR 20 Aasimar Scourge Monk Level 20 / Epic Level 10)
Thelanis: Pocket-Monks: Sightblur, Peashoote, Jigglypath, Jedinja.
Invisible Fences, unkillable Target Practice Dummy's, Shared Bank's, Pale Lavender Ioun Stones, the dimensional barrier between Eberron and Shavarath, I've broken them all...
Sounds interesting. Can't wait till we get to test them
Half-Elf Dile-Artificer just didn't work with it yet. (Actually, I'm not even sure what dile-artificer would do at the moment, the description is pretty much meaningless now )
[ Fernia / Ghallanda ]Divine Initiate: Samho, Hammerhead, Stonespeaker, Dreadedblade, Pryan, Nightward (build), Stonewill . ---- Arcane apprentice: Graybone, Grayblade, Ironspeaker, Ironthought.-- Role of the Combat Cleric : We fight for our party's survival --
For those interested, this item attempts to equip to the "Off hand", ie the shield slot, the secondary hand, etc.
I guess there won't be a new slot, simply that Artificer's get that slot renamed so it's possible to use it. *shrugs*

My guess would be no. This would rule out using shields or TWF but you could still melee with a single weapon and blast with the offhand.
I have to wonder if these will work with bows as well as crossbows. Would be interesting to build an AA/Artificer and blast with an arm cannon while waiting for Manyshot to come off cooldown.
Actually you could probably forgo crossbows all together and wand whip with your primary hand. There has been hints that Artificers will have a chance to not use charges when wand whipping.
Just read through the thread again and noticed this post from before. This is a very interesting point.
From PnP, a 6th level Artificer has the ability to apply Metamagic feats onto spell trigger items (such as wands, and possibly Runearms) that they use by choosing to expend extra charges. At 11th level they get to apply Metamagic feats onto spell completion items (such as scrolls) with a higher UMD check needed.
If this is something that they will be able to do here in DDO in some form (not necessarily the same way as in PnP) then this might become a decent strategy.
Fire off an empowered, maximized, heightened wand of <whatever>, and while your wand is on cooldown charge up and blast with your Runearm once or twice (depending on the charge timer).
It will be interesting to see if the Runearms are good enough for this to be a viable strategy or not.
If this becomes a viable strategy, then now more than ever, with the introduction of Artificers, we REALLY need wand and scroll cases. The tech now exists, as proven by ingredient bags' new functionality in the crafting hall. So get to it Devs!

I saw this on the AH and had to screen shot and link all my buddies! :P
Haha, If only we could test out how they work and if they are as awesome as they look! :P

I wonder what the firing rate on that thing is. @L20, it's gonna do 8-26 + 20d6 force... and that's just Korthos noobie ****.

Doubt Artificers will have to run Redemption. Rune arms of various types will probably drop, from named versions to randomly generated.
The force shot is probably something that just comes standard and might change depending on the type of rune arm. Fire damage for example.
Anyway, looks cool. Seems like they're really trying to move Artificers to always use crossbows and rune arms though.

PS: Greensteel RUINED the game! and you all know it!
less buffing, more nerfing!!!
to make it easier for those of you that wants to avoid me in game, all my characters are in "Bladesworn Mercenaries"
Only if they want that particular rune arm. There are more scattered throughout the game. They equip to the off-hand, but permit crossbow use.
There was also an interesting build that they came up with that uses a bastard sword or dwarven waraxe, getting the most benefit from the runearm imbue. I liked it enough that it's going to be one of their paths.Seems like they're really trying to move Artificers to always use crossbows and rune arms though.
