So I went to house cannith. Within there was an artificer trainer who had some options that other trainers do not have.

These are: Train pet and reset pet enhancements.

So it would seem to me that the pets of the artificers will be a quite big part of the class.

Yes, saw that too. Also in the rogue device crafting stations you can create "Modules" for your Artificer pet.

You can also create a new character and read what it says about DDO's Artificers in the Character Creation interface (you can't actually create one yet) and check out the new hand cannon on the character model.

You can now also choose crossbow as a weapon in the miniquest at level 1. This my imply that artificers often use crossbows as their weapon of choice. Perhaps they have some class-based bonus towards this.

I also saw thet recomended starting sat for Dex is 8, so hopefully To hit will be Int based?
