Do NOT like the new layout to the bars.

I hate that they take up so much room, I do not want to see my own portrait or level on my personal info bar, I miss my autoattack toggle and I want my bar back up in the party list with everyone else- 6 per column as always.

    This is not an improvement.

I'll live with the HP/SP numbers but I think they are not a good addition to the game.

You want your bar back up in the list and have 6 per column? Well, make it that way.

Don't want to see a giant circle next to health bar? Turn it off.

Both of these are possible with UI settings. It makes your health bar show as a party list icon, whether you are in a group or not.

    Edit:

And if you're in a group, they just get added to the column as normal.

That's the only health bar on my screen, and now the only thing they need to do is maybe fix that there's so much vertical space between each players health bars.

Really, my only complaint is with the screen space the new bars take up. I like having the other players' HP listed in the bar for the purposes of healing - some people don't need a Heal immediately tossed their way at 50%, others may have such low HP that it's dangerous to let them drop below 80%. This is especially true in the raids where a tank's HP total is critical to success such as ToD (there's a "magic number" of 600 for a reason.)

Clean up some of the vertical dead space and I'd be on board. With it the way it currently is on Lam, I can't see the whole thing with only 10 people even when I kick my screen resolution to 1280x1024... I'm not even looking forward to a full complement of 12.

    Default HP/SP bar

I do NOT like the new HP/SP bar. Please get rid of the big circle/portrait thing on the end.

Word. I concur fully with this. I already wrote a bug report on this issue. along with the sheer fun that you can only take the vitals bar about half way down the screen.

    Default New HP/SP toolbar

There are a lot of reasons to not like the new toolbars. They take up too much room. The spacing between them is too much, etc. ............... I agree.

The thing that bugs me the most though, is that awful circle (portrait) on the main HP/SP toolbar. It's built with the assumption that everyone places it somewhere on the left side of the screen, and therefore the circle (portrait) portion is not likely to interfere with the view. This is not correct.

I'm a pilot. I like to lay my toolbars out in a way that maximizes my visual crosscheck. Sort of like a heads up display (HUD) system. I put most of them across the bottom so that my peripheral view (or side view) is maximized. I put my most important toolbar, my personal HP/SP bar, in the very center of the screen. It's just below my character, usually just around his knees, but above everything else. A very good spot that maximizes the ergonomics of my visual crosscheck in combat.

Now imagine how bad the new HP/SP toolbar would look there!!!!

Turbine, please get rid of the portrait circle. It's a complete waste of screen real estate.

turn you're HP bar off, and turn the new party on for your own stats. then you have your bar on for solo, and the whole party there for grouping. thats how i have mine at the moment and i can keep it in the new system too

He still can't put that in the middle of the screen at his knees as he can with the current live bars.

He sort of could, but I don't like how it'd look.

You lay out your screen pretty much like I do, and for the same reason. I'm not a pilot, but the mechanics are the same.

true, but the way i see it is all the space your character takes up is ripe for UI elements, so my party bar starts at my shoulders. this means i often notice a fellow party member dropping and can help out, even if its just with some braciers of aid or some other way to get someone out of incap. i have several heal scroll specced chars now and find i'm a better backup healer than i am a main healer.

now that we can keep the party bars shown when not in a party we can save space by removing our personal health bar.

    Thanks for all the feedback.

One thing we're working on right now is make the UI option that hides your portrait revert to a minimalist vitals bar, removing portrait, level, name(s) etc to maintain compatibility for players. It won't be exactly as it was before, but should be fairly close.

Thank You. Any chance to get a preview image to see if its heading in the right user friendly direction?

Imagine the current one with the portrait circle gone and the right edge flipped horizontally and used as the left edge and you'll be pretty darn close.

Besides the normal round of changes going to them, do you think there is a way to shorten the height of the bars so they don't take up soo much vertical space? Right now on Lam, there is a little red and blue above and below the numbers. If it was shrunk down to where it was in pixel alignment to the numbers, it would minimalize the footprint quite a bit.

It also looks like the new font is a size larger than the old/live version. It would be nice if it could be scaled in options.

Thank you for this. I don't want to see the portrait of myself, just wastes too much space for my preferred layout, which is to have my personal HP/SP Graph just below my feet and above two toolbars. Showing HP/SP was also a great move, as a healer I really like to have more info when healing.

We just shrunk it down a bit (a matter of pixels) - as much as physically possible without changing the size of the elements themselves. The reason for the apparent wasted space is that there is a pet vitals bar that will appear underneath for artificers and there needs to be room for this. We originally had them smaller but received complaints about legibility, being able to easily click on them etc.
