    Default Halfling Rogue Kukri

I would like to build a serious halfling rogue who uses kukris. I'm not going for optimal here, just want to make the character as strong as possible under those constraints. Hoping to get some suggestions as to builds.

My guess is that, since rogues are so feat-starved as it is, I'd be best off multiclassing into fighter or ranger, but I'm not sure how to break up the multiclassing. 19/1 rogue-fighter would do the trick, but I don't know if I would be better off doing a 17/3 rogue-ranger or rogue-fighter. Any insight is much appreciated =)

Also, this is a 28 point build, but that shouldn't make too big of a difference. Planning on doing my starting stats like this: 15str/15dex/13con/13int, though I don't know if I'd be better off with 14/16/14/14, so I can be swayed here as well.

If the build would be significantly easier as a human, that's also an option.

    Thanks in advance.

Build it like any other rogue and umd Master's touch scrolls to get proficiency in kukris.
You can even go dex-based if you fancy it, as kukris are finessable.
If you really want the proficiency, go str-based and take martial weapons prof.

The main question is: what are your ressources? If you can count on a +2 dex tome by level 8 (either bought from another character or from DDO store), I'd say: go str-based human or halfling. If you're a poor 28-points 1st character, it may be significantly easier (though not optimal) to go dex-based, but you will have some problems fitting both PA and Kukri prof., plus you won't be able to take the proficiency at lower levels since you will need Toughness, Weapon finesse and TWF asap. For these reasons, going str-based is probably the better choice for you.
Here is a proposition w/ halfling race (as you asked first), using only +1 tome (if you can use +2 tomes, start with 15 dex):

    HALFLING (28 points)
    Str 15 Dex 16 Con 14 Int 11 Wis 8 Cha 8
Use a +1 dex tome at level 8 or before, and +1 int tome asap.
    Level up in Str.
    Feats: Toughness (1), Kukri prof. (3), TWF (6), iTWF (9), IC: slash (12), gTWF (15), PA (18).

You can also lower your str a bit if you like (15 -> 14), to increase your int (11 -> 14) for a better assassinate dc.

well, if you don't mind only being able to use the (epic) midnight's greetings in one hand all the time (or UMDing master's touch scrolls with some other kukri in your off hand) you can actually stay pure rogue. and not spend a feat, as an added bonus.

I actually started a DEX&INT-based halfling Assassin with the intention of using Midnight Greeting (+other kukri) so you can skip taking the prof. IIRC, Midnight Greeting also counts as a monk weapon, so you can do a rogue / monk who uses them. Now you're really in flavor-build territory!

I have a 13 rogue / 6 ranger / 1 monk Tempest 1 / Acrobat 2 finesse AC build collecting dust on the shelf at level 12 or 13 that uses kukris.... because kukris are basically just finessable scimitars.
He was a ton of fun to play until I got to working on other projects, which is the only reason he's on the shelf at the moment.

Thank you so much for all the replies. I've considered all of it and, since the rogue capstone is so good and I agree that I probably should stay pure rogue, here's what I've decided on:

stats: 14/16/14/14/8/8 str based assassin, feats in order: toughness>kukri>twf>itwf>ic slash>gtwf>pa

I'll try using a tome of dex before 9 for itwf, but is there any reason why I couldn't just spend two action points on a point of dex for the same effect?

Because only the basic attribute is considered for feat requisites, i.e. base + tome + levels.

If you didn't want Halfling, you could go HElf with fighter Dil to get all martial weapons and +1 to STR. This would allow you to play with other weapons if you found them to better as well as open up a feat. Other nice things like a seperate extra bluff or diplo for when your main is on timer.

Helf would probably be the best idea, but I don't have access to that race yet unfortunately. Thanks though, it's a good idea B)
