    Default Shield Mastery change

I just resubbed and noticed that they changed Shield Mastery...

    http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Feat:Shield_Mastery

Instead of increasing the DR when in shield block mode, it's now just a full time passive that reduces physical damage by 15% when a shield is equipped (in my case with Light and Darkness), that is, if I'm understanding this correctly. I'm not sure if it does both, increase the blocking DR and reduce physical damage.

Reducing any kind of damage is good for a DoS Paladin (20) right? I dropped the Khopesh exotic feat and went back to my longsword collection to take this.

It does not increase blocking DR anymore. Instead it just gives you a passive DR that works while blocking and not blocking afaik.

Ok, so you just get the percentages listed in the tooltip as long as you have a shield in your hand - it doesn't matter if you're blocking or not.

    I'd assume they're joking.

If Turbine aren't going to rebalance AC to encourage people to actually, y'know, wear armour to keep them alive instead of sacking it off, wearing pyjamas and hoping the healers can keep up, DR is the only other sane way to do it. Since AC does work at higher levels if you can seriously, seriously invest in it at the expense of other stuff, DR via feats seems like a reasonable alternative (since youre also doing it at the expense of something else).

It's still worth blocking however, because you still get the shield's inherent blocking DR as an absolute value on top of the % based passive DR.
