Default duo with a pure sorc

Looking for a build I can run with my bro, that has more to it than just hold lmb ??? profit

I'm newish so I'm not sure what classes are effective without having gear and plat handed down to you.
Played very briefly years ago but things seem a bit different..

Any suggestions would be great.. I like melees a lot but we have a couple rolls that need filled.

    Thanks in advance

As a question, and based on your previous thread, do you have the Warforged race by any chance? With out it, healing is gonna be a pain [unless you can find a cleric/fvs that will run with you] (for you, and him.) (WF arcane casters can 'repair' themselves, and other WF).

Fighter - Lots of feats, and a nice prestige line (kensai).
Barbarian - Alot less feats, but a nice prestige line (lots of extra damage, that also applies on 'glancing blows' when using a two handed weapon). Rages for more health and damage.
Paladin - Had MAD (Multi-Attribute-Dependency) and is thus harder as a first character.
Ranger - Free access to TWF without needing dex.

That said, I actually don't play melee's much (if ever). So my advice will be limited to:

    1. Do not, ever, 'dump' constitution.
    2. Do not have a base con under 14, preferably over 14.
    3. DPS means nothing if you are dead. Get heavy fortification asap.
    4. Same as 3 - but get the highest +x con item you can.
    5. Same as 3 - but get the highest xfalse life item that you can.
    6. Don't be so focused on Hp that you forget Dps.
    7. Healers don't like sponges. Try to not take unnecessary damage and bring potions so that you can self heal to a degree.
    8. Speak up and try and learn about the game, ask questions. State that you are new to 'x quest' or 'x raid'.
    9. You need 17 dexterity (base + tomes if any) to take the feat "Greater Two Weapon fighting". This is mandatory if you want max twf dps.
    10. You need zero dex, and 17 strength to take Greater Two handed fighting. You will likely be maxing out str anyways, so it is less of a sacrifice than keeping dex at 17.
    11. When moving and attacking you will take a -4 to your attack (accuracy) roll.
    12. Toughness is a great feat to take if you can. Taking it will give you more health (22 iirc when you are capped), but will also give you access to enhancements that boost Hp even more.

And lastly, I recommend that you read these (from the ddo wiki)

Warforged pure Paladin + Arcane = easy mode.

The arcane does most of the healing and CC and nuking when need be, the Paladin does the melee tanking and damage and backup healing (lay on hands can save the day when a barb or fighter would watch you two wipe). I've leveld at least two dozen characters to 20 (counting TRs) and with no exaggeration I can flat out say that a WF Paladin paired with a WF Arcane is the easiest, most fun, and most efficient duo in the game.
    Eulogy- oh ninety eight

Another Possibility is the WF Fighter/Rogue Splash

This will help fill the Trap/Lock roll. 2 levels of Rogue get you evasion as long as you stay with the light Armor Platting. UMD becomes an option as well for out of combat healing or emergency purposes as well as some Self Defensive buffs like bettern then 1 minute Shield and Fire Shield.

    Or

Ranger/Rogue Splash (only need 1 Rogue level as 9th lvl Rangers get Evasion)

    Or

Cleric/Rogue Splash (melee centric Higher Str/Lower Wisdom) - Divine buffs.

So far everyone here has assumed that your friend can and will repair you. That is the focus of the Warforged teamed with Arcane. Another route to go would be Bard or heavy Charisma Favored Soul. I run a WF FVS in duo with my best friends WF Wizard. We can each heal the other at all times. We can each Raise the other with UMD RD scrolls. We can each cast damaging spells. We can start a PUG together that fills almost instantly due to the 2 classes. Arcane and Divine.
