Default Any archers think this would be kinda neat?

I had been thinking that it would be cool if there were a rare item that you could loot, a single returning arrow that deals extra damage. Maybe something like a golden arrow, made of mithral instead of wood, and deals an additional 1d6 Light damage. Light damage is pretty sweet since most things don't have resistance to it. Mithral would be cool because it's light and harder than wood, so it wouldn't break as easily if you take damage. Even if it's something that binds on acquire, I think items can still temporarily break (right?). And since it's harder, maybe it can deal slightly more physical damage?

Or you know, any single returning arrow with an addition 1d6 or even 1d8 extra damage of some type. I just like the idea of a special golden arrow, and Light damage seems like it would fit that kind of profile. I don't think there's any (100%) returning arrows that deal addition damage in DDO.
There's arcane arrows that arcane archers can conjure, but they don't deal additional damage. And there's those +5 Screaming Amethyst Arrows that deal an extra 1d6 Sonic damage, but they come in a stack of 100 and they're only 50% returning. I never use those because I'm afraid of wasting them when I don't need them.

What do you think- Cool, lame? Pointless? Too powerful? Or anything you want to add?

I don't use a bow much as a pure fighter (I do have one and use it occasionally).

But I still think this is a cool idea. I really don't know how you archers stay stocked with arrows. Would be a nice addition. We have return throwers, so why not and endless arrow. Make it some sort of chain end reward. I'd even say make many different types and have them as chain end rewards, favor reward options, etc.

    Solid idea. I like it.

    That increases Ranged DPS

Some Special Epic Arrow type is an idea

I like it. A whole raft of Green Arrow type arrows would be kitschy-keen. A net arrow. A chain arrow, shooting from one victim to another.

I'd also like to see the imbued Exploding arrow actually be exploding, causing splash damage to mobs.
What do you mean a -6 armor class is no good any more?

House D with enough favor sells arrows that are 75% returning. Arcane Archers can conjure 100% returning arrows for their own use. In many cases DR breaking arrows are also stocked in quivers. There is also a chance of getting 75% returning Silver arrows from the end reward of threnal. Flame arrow, a level 1 wiz/sorc spell (available as wands) will turn 1 normal arrow into 50 flaming arrows that do +1d6 fire damage but drop on exiting the instance.

Shards of Light are sort of similar (vs undead, as opposed to light dmg)

I run an arcane archer. I like the idea, particularly since AA's can't conjure up their returning arrows until....I forget which level....9?.....12?

I wonder if it would overpower arrow chuckers in general, since we try to maximize the DPS we can do with a bow through various means (good bows, feats, enhancements, etc)?

You pew pews have it rough, in general I'm for anything that will make you useful and not just "the guy who keeps kiting things away from me when I want to kill it"

^^^ Also liked that idea up there about web, chain arrows. Nice idea.

If you stay in one place I'll run him past you, I'm not really trying to kite I'm trying to convince him to leave me alone.

Not all rangers are AAs! I like to do wilderness areas with my tepest solo. In some areas, it's best to lure a couple at a time away from a red name before whipping out the vorpals. My toon is carrying 6 quivers, including a couple from house D and a couple from the DDO store. This 'Golden Arrow' idea would greatly benefit him.

You can't use the jedi mind trick without waving your hand... you can't wave your hand if one is on the bow and the other on the bowstring.... just saying. ;P

Different types, that's a good idea. I really would like to see returning arrows in DDO that add damage, and different types is good for everyone.

I think anything that makes non-AA archers more viable is needed. May I humbly suggest a Fletcher's shop/pawnbroker with ammo.

    UDR Loot Rules:
    1) No griefing people for pulling loot that dropped in their name
    2) When rolling, classes for which the item is "useful" get +10 to the roll
example: Wiz and Barb both roll on a Torc, the barb saying "I'm TRing into an arcane next week"
Wiz gets +10 on his roll

    Returning arrows with damage. Nice.
Prefix and Suffix on Arrows. Would also be nice.

But what I want more than anything else is Wide Tiped Arrows (Slashing) and Blunt Arrows (Bludgeon)

And then you can give me extra damage on top of that.

the base idea is very nice and i totally agree.
BUT the 100% returning ITEM would be too much. It would make the arcane arrows useless (whihc is a mainfeature of the AA chain)

lets say Kind of a potion/shard that can be added to the arrow altering the dmg is smth i would favor more.
the returning % of the arrow is untouched, the effect is applied.

Yeah it would make the arcane arrows pretty useless, but would anyone really care? I wouldn't say the arcane arrows are the main feature of the AA, but rather the arrow imbues.
