    Default Ignore list improvement

To be honest I've just begun to use this forum option after five years so it goes to show that there are not many people on this forum that really tick me off. My only disappointment with it is that it only ignores the person's posts. What I would like to see is an option, selectable of course, that if the person is on your ignore list that any threads created by said person are also ignored in their entirety. This would also include all posts by other people even if they are not on your ignore list.

While I know this is a bit harsh and/or extreme, there is one person on these forums that annoys the bejebis out of me and he or she has diarrhea of the brain when it comes to posting threads. I would love it if the devs/mods would limit certain people from continually posting but this I feel would be too cumbersome, very subjective, and have the same flaws the the forum reputation system has.

Adding the above option to the ignore functionality allows me to enjoy the forums more and limits my knee jerk reaction to posting anything that might draw moderator attention or "love letters".

    Censorship?

So rather than just ignoring any posts from this person (or any other person whose thoughts and opinions you disagreed with) you want to have the ability to effectively remove them from the forums? Because that's what you'd being doing from your point of view. You'd never see any post they ever put up nor any post they ever will put up.

ROFL....here let me get you a larger soap box.

What? Is it wrong if I do not want to see said person's posts? Isn't that my right? It is just like my setting my IE to block all pornographic websites so I do not have to see them and can't get to them. Is this censorship? Probably only in the strictest sense but I am censoring content only for myself. What is issue with that? It is a personal choice and one I feel the people should be allowed make for themselves if they want to. My suggestion would allow me to not have to see anything that said person posts along with any replies etc. So yes I get to remove them from MY forum experience. If you don't have said person ignored then they aren't removed for you and therefor they aren't censored.

It might be just as easy to ignore someone but when said person posts multiple times per day and only does it to draw attention to themselves I feel that stronger actions are warranted. Sadly, the moderators won't/can't take the necessary actions to limit or prohibit the user from posting. I don't blame them because if they did that WOULD be censorship. I can keep neg repping the poster although the system doesn't allow you to continue do that without passing reputation points around or I can report a post for any number of violations but I'm pretty sure the moderators aren't going to do anything since they haven't done anything to date.

I'm simply asking for the ability to self censor anything I find violates my delicate sense of sensibility. I'm not treading on any other individuals rights. Whether you agree or not I really don't care because what I'm requesting would only affect me.

What are people being taught in schools these days?!?!?! Your right to free speech only means freedom from government interference. Private citizens are free to ignore you in whatever way they can.

    UDR Loot Rules:
    1) No griefing people for pulling loot that dropped in their name
    2) When rolling, classes for which the item is "useful" get +10 to the roll
example: Wiz and Barb both roll on a Torc, the barb saying "I'm TRing into an arcane next week"
Wiz gets +10 on his roll

It's not really censorship if it only effects you and you decide to apply it.

Censorship is when something is blocked/removed from view by someone else.

I must ignore this thread now.

It is not you Ironforge_Clan, as I am sure you are a lovely human being with insightful commentary on the DDO player condition, and nothing herein is meant as rude, inflammatory, or derogatory in any way. Post-on.

No one is holding a gun to your head to read what this person has to say.....or are they?

I completely agree. I should just not bother and pass on by, however, similiar to an accident on the highway human nature it is to stop and gawk. We just can't help ourselves and in this case I'm always cursing myself for bothering. I can't hit that neg rep/report button fast enough.

If I had this option it wouldn't even be an issue and I could be stalking the forums in bliss!

    My feelings exactly.

If they were/are activity hounding you that would be different, but if they are just posting their own stuff, there is no reason to get worked up over it.

    Thumbs up great idea

    /signed!

Also let us mark individual threads as /ignore (not the thread creator, just this thread) so when I have read all I care to on a bunch of threads they no longer dilute my "new posts" windows.

There has been some talk of censorship in the thread, I don't mean for this to hide threads or posters for anybody else, only hide them from me while I am logged on with my account.

And +1 rep for holding your cool (at least as far in as I read) while explaining your idea, you kept a positive and calm tone. Very constructive.

Oh, and Maitland, I see your posts too

Interesting thing, is that this forum software can handle ignores better.

From totally removing the person from your view, from post to threads. But doesn't seem to do this.

That works well if you remember the names of everybody, but my memory isn't that good.

I want the computer to remember for me and skip for me, it's what computers do so much better than humans.

Plus, it would prevent many flame wars, which I'm sure are contributing to Global Warming
