The "Lag Drop." You make some meaningless jump, my example is the Spider and Crate room in Waterworks part one. I was jumping down from the middle ledge, got hit by lag for about 15 seconds or so, while in mid air. The game calculated my hang time into the damage algorithm, and hit me with 200 plus falling damage...on a level 2 wizard.

Well if you follow the OP line of thoughts, he's mentioning a single spell effect that would relate to how to die agonizingly in real life term, instead of painful tragic deaths.

My vote goes to acid fog, as mean as being imploded, it's a relatively fast and painful death. However imagine choking and burning with every breath until you die. I'd consider the worse way to go in a slow horrid way because lets face it, unable to breath, while having your skin and whatever you're wearing melting on you is far worse than being blown up from the inside out.

As for gaming death, getting lost in a tunnel of water with no sense of direction would be any diver's nightmare, the desperation of trying to find your way while running out of air, is far worse than being melted by lava in the 12.

Having heals centered on you in DQ and not getting any of them while the rest of the party is getting them no problem...got to love lag.

Drop into IP elite Offering of blood xp farm + landing in 8-9 scorrow and a mass of BB's and then group leader sends you a tell saying "N00b-leave now".

    Doubly painful.

Playing permadeath, level 3-4 in WW or STK (cant remember which).

Finish the quest, jump off a platform w/out realizing I had 2 HP left.

You can guess the hilarious consequences

Default Worst way to go.. but funny.

This happened when I first started playing DDO:

Depths of Despair: lowbie cleric is swapping out armor and hasn't healed himself. Rouge impatiently opens door to Minotaur cage. Minotaur immediately aggro's the (now naked) cleric and charges cleric from behind... *Ding!* Death by Minotaur horn up the hoop; he's so hard his soul stone half embeds into the wall.

I had this happen to me. I swore I put on my Boots of Anchoring and really put on Surefooted Boots. I spent at least 3 minutes wondering aloud what the heck happened. Then when I realized I was like "OMG I'm an idiot!"

I was joking around one time during the early days in Invaders on my rogue. Someone went afk near a door so I started to dance without any robe or armor on. Well said afk person came back and opened the door. Out poured 5 Fire Reavers and here goes the Halfling Rogue running around being chased by 5 reavers screaming "GET THEM OFF ME!"

    Default worst ways to die

in Pve im gonna have to go with Healing cursed while "unconscious but regenerating-status"

in pvp, unconscious/incapped while your opponent hits you every few seconds with holy flame club til He falls asleep

and ofc pre-death id go with warforged mage type constantly irresistible dance +hold spells while they drink bar bought sp pots or least harmful of them but still rather gruesome, irresistible danced while being beaten to death by holy flame clubs ive had it all happen

Testing out Frenzy on my first Barb by bludgeoning the training dummy. Get down to 10-14hp from the vicious effect when the dummy breaks...

...then rage expires. Ding! Laid out on the deck of the guild airship. All ship buffs lost, including the one from the dummy.

Feather Falling into Lava that has no escape. 60 Secs where you know you're going to die but you have no valid excuse that sounds believable

It gives you time to type /death, and save some dignity.
